[Halo 2] Halo2 Xbox Live update today! I was browsing the Xbox Live forum and I found this piece of information! They are addressing the painfully slow matchmaking process! Even though I prefer arranged games with friends, matchmaking is useful when your friends are not online!
What:
Today (11/17) Bungie Studios and Xbox Live are releasing a free mandatory auto update for Halo 2
This download is free of charge as part of your Xbox Live membership.*
When:
The downloads will be available Thursday, November 17, 2004 after 3:00pm ET/12:00pm PT.
You may have the download available before this time, but everyone will have access to it by the time posted above.
If you don't see the download right away don't panic. Don't post that you don't have it yet. It will show up shortly.
Where:
This auto update will be available to Xbox Live members in all countries that Xbox Live is sold.
Details on the downloads:
This auto update will address the slow matchmaking issues that some members are experiencing. In addition, this auto update provides a fix to the issue where certain Television displays were clipping off the sides of the HUD. Finally, this auto update should decrease the "Dirty Disc/Failed to load map" errors that some members are experiencing.
That is all the information that I have at this time.
Thanks for using Xbox Live!

Just realized they wrote Thursday, 17th. So, now I'm not sure if it's Wednesday 17th or Thursday 18th ...
Well, still pretty fast response for a problem with the game. I'll finally be able to see my radar completely when playing 480p widescreen!

well i just got the update.... it made things worse! Matchmaking took about twice as long as it previously had, and even dropped people entirely and started over a couple times. I hope this was only an isolated incident...

Yeah, they jumped on this problem as soon as it was brought to their attention. They're also working on the problem that some people are having with the HUD being cut of on progressive scan. IF any of you guys are having that problem, head on over to the bungie.com forwards, and post in their page with your TV model information to help them create a fix.

But I thought this would be part of today's fix! I'm having this problem! Even though it's not severe it would be cool to solve it ...
Thunderclap,
This sucks! I can't believe it could be even worse than it was! Hopefully it'll get better later tonight.

Oops, my bad. I didn't know if they were planning on getting this one out too. Pay no attention to my redundancy then....

Yeah, I thought about this. But there's more info about the update on Bungie's site. It says it's an optional download, meaning you can just hit cancel and just don't download it ... So, they better be prepared to have people with and without the fix.
Oh, and foundation will be unlocked to everybody! Details here:

That's great that Foundation is being unlocked for everyone. I beat the game a few days ago and I wasn't able to get the map. I can't wait to get home from work so I can test out the quicker speed for optimatch.

I tried posting this on the bungie.net forums but those things are wacky and I can't find my message now.
At the moment in the game there's three lists, Friends, Clanmates and Recent Players. What would be nice is a fourth Inbox list, that lists all players that have sent you messages you're yet to answer, whether they are friends, clanmates or not. It's a pain seeing 'you have received a message from xyz' and having to scroll through the lists to find that person.
If they stuck that in an update they'd be my heroes of the week.
Also they should make it so if you're a few levels deep in menus (like messing around with game rule options) pressing B doesn't take you ALL the way back out.

Hey, for all you people with x-box's, why don't you request the rest of the game so that I would have further reason to buy the console?
