The Night Land, The Fairy Land

I come from a flower bud, that shapes my wing
I come when the moon is falling and the sun still isn't seen
My voice is like a whisper but still beautiful and sweet
I sing my songs of ancient lands that no one else has seen
I dance around the tips of trees and fly off into the night
......and as I tire I sit upon a lily flower
and have dew drops as my drink
As the sun starts to shine through the clouds of the eastern land
I fly back to my world of magic and make believe
The warm rays hit the ground and another day begins
I lay sleeping waiting for night once more
So I can go out and play
In the land the humans keep captive during the day.

O you who dance among the trees
With endless grace and tireless ease,
Would it disrupt your song to speak
Of who you are and what you seek?

We circle through the forest green
In patterns left to you unseen,
And when the sunrise lights the sky
To other places we must fly.

O you who fly into the night
With eyes that shine like stars and light,
Please tell me now where do you run
When you depart from day and sun?

With light that you will never see
We travel over rock and tree.
Yet in the blazing glare of dawn
Our own devices must be gone.

O you who flee from sun and day
With strange enigmas you must play,
To be se wary not to tell
Of who you are and where you dwell

We beg you not to leave our sight
And ride to long-forgotten light
Your presence cannot be so wrong
We bid you stay and hear our song

"The Elven Dance", by Amanda Baggs

This poem implies there _IS_ some other way to understand you besides using words.

Alas, us mortals are bound by speech
Yet help we need, so I do beseech:
Is there some other way that we might find
the center of your tangled mind?

For lost we are, adrift at sea
And cannot see the forest for the tree
Any help you provide would be just fine
Before we are all out of time

"I have a thousand men," said he,
"To wait upon my will;
And towers nine upon the Tyne,
And three upon the Till."

"And what care I for your men? " said she,
"Or towers from Tyne to Till?
Sith you must go with me," said she,
"To wait upon my will.

And you may lead a thousand men
Nor ever draw the rein,
But before you lead the Fairy Queen
'Twill burst your heart in twain."

He has slipped his foot from the stirrup-bar,
The bridle from his hand,
And he is bound by hand and foot
To the Queen of Fairy Land.

"A Mis-spent Wish"

To be bound to thine would be just fine
But alas we are running out of time.
I have friend which through his haste
In space, in time, he is misplaced.

Right now he is very blue
And Wishes he could undo
A terrible decision that he made
Two lives for one he did trade.

Can you help? I do wonder
Help my friend undo his blunder
He wants to undo what he had done
So his family might again be one

Laughing and singing all day,
This is how you may find the fae.
Intrude not, or be ye ware
Forever they'll hold you,
If you should dare.

I do not wish to run amiss
In your wonderful land of fae
You came to us, not us to you
So what is it you wish us to view?

Are you friend or are you foe?
What way is it you wish us to go?
To say the above quote
Was not the way to get my vote

So I shall not laugh
To find this thing
I shall not sing
To take flight on your wing

Nor will I be bound by foot and hand
To this so called Queen of Fairy Land
What is to be found
We'll never know

For you take us around
Send us to and fro
Do we go here?
Are we even near?

This game is confusing
I must confess
Do you find this amusing
Yes, that is my guess

I want to be kind. I really do. I appreciate the poetic efforts of those who are seeking to communicate with "Titania". The player efforts are admirable and worthy of reading but, BUT...

If "Titania" were a real in-game character, she would be posting on yahoo, at least. She would not be restricting her vagueness on uf only. Wasn't there an individual who presented herself as a character in the Beast? This was before my time but, I've read the history...

I don't want to look mean but isn't this a waste of bandwidth? I could be wrong, of course, but IMHO, Titania is a free-rider and should be ignored. I could be wrong...

Titania, prove it by providing a link or some other info that is valid to the game. Otherwise, shut up and stop deflecting player energies.

I'd spec that Titania is NOT ingame, b/c she would be violating the rules of the game.
1) she's posting in the player forum. This forum (and CD, and yahoo) is for the players, not the ingame characters
2) she's ONLY posting in UF (not in CD nor yahoo, nor any other public posting) so this information would not be available to ALL players of CTW.
I enjoy reading the great poetic minds in our player responses. But I'm not going to rely on any information she/he posts in here as being "in game".

SPEC: What is off limits in the game of life?

1.) This is an interactive game to weave in and out of our real lives
a.) AIM contact with "Shadowtalk1" - why not on Yahoo or MSN? I get the impression that the AIM discussions are very much"in-game"
b.) objects mailed, placed in locations to find
c.) Telephone calls

2.) If a forum is off limits then why not phone calls? Not everyone wants to be contacted by phone or Parcel Post/US Mail/Pony Express. Doesn't this give an unfair advantage to those who do want calls and packages?

3.) We are supposed to cooperate with each other - I believe that to also include the other discussion groups. It is like a play where the character on stage asks where another character is hiding. Should they not ask the audience since all people coming to the play are not in the theater at the same time? Should they "not" ask because there are people in the street who are not going to see the play?

My vote is Titania is "in game" but so far, she has been very evasive. That is the nature of fairies, to distract, to amuse, to be amused. And should we find ourselves in a contest with one of hers, we play to win, for if we lose we never see the sun again, but should we win, we either find out she has been dazzling us with smoke and mirrors, a pretty show, but nothing to get upset about. As someone said before "Much Ado About Nothing" or should I say, "A Midsummers Night's Dream"
As Puck stated:
Quote:
If we shadows have offended,
Think but this, and all is mended,
That you have but slumber'd here
While these visions did appear.
And this weak and idle theme,
No more yielding but a dream,
Gentles, do not reprehend:
if you pardon, we will mend:
And, as I am an honest Puck,
If we have unearned luck
Now to 'scape the serpent's tongue,
We will make amends ere long;
Else the Puck a liar call;
So, good night unto you all.
Give me your hands, if we be friends,
And Robin shall restore amends.

William Shakespeare

Let Titania have her say
sooner or later her weaving will fray,
Through this maze we've to wend
all the way to the sweet and bitter end.
Let the Puppet Masters in their high tower
pluck the bloom from Titania's flower
If with our affections she does play
to turn us 'round to lose our way
They shall soon set us right
so, Why not enjoy this our midsummer's night.

[Hugs for everyone who wants one]

Read the FAQ and the PM interview prior to the game starting. Cool
We were told ahead of time that "real world" interaction could be a part of this game. That there would be objects to be found in the real world. And for those who signed up for full immersion, phone calls and emails would occur (forgot if FAX numbers were also requested).

But the PM promised us that the forum would not be used ingame. Hopefully he didn't change his mind. Smile

I wasn't around for Cecelia, but I've read the interview and heard the stories. Twisted Evil

I'm a bad monkey. Confused ::handslap::

Doesn't mean we can't have a bit of fun tossing pseudo mysterious poety things around does it? Laughing Very Happy (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

Maybe it could be done somewhere other than unforum? I tend to store up the "new" posts and read them later when I have time, and the program can't distinguish real, game related data from folks who are off on a tangent.

The Titania thing is starting to muss up things a bit, since it's obviously not ingame, but trying to be a game in a non-game area.
