Email from bruce regarding dale's meeting with Don

Ladies (friends) -- (should I add countrymen?):

Nothing to report on the Dale and Diana past hunt -- a couple of small
crises
(one at work, one with my family -- a health matter I don't want to
share right
now) have kept me from walking down memory lane this weekend.

However, I just got an email from Angie, mentioning some details about
Dale's
meeting with Don Marzano that concern me a bit. She says that the Don
asked her
to reserve the back room for Dale, with 'six' in the total party -- and
told
her to dismiss the waitstaff (which apparently means that Marco will be
serving
as the waiter). Sounds like a walk into the lion's den to me.

You tell me -- should I try to do something, or stay away? Let me make
it
clear -- I'm not an invited part of the meeting right now, but I could
show up
there to help Angie with a glitch I can tell her to 'develop', and at
least
keep an eye on things. But if Dale has something planned that I should
avoid,
I'll stay away. Like I say, LMK quickly -- I don't have much time to
plan a
strategy.

Well, I thought you should know in case you need to send out an APB for me in a few hours -- I am going to Emptythreats later today, but not under the pretense we were talking about. Last night after I sent that mail, I got a phone call -- from an old friend. He appears to have had a change of heart about the things he said that so disturbed me. He basically apologized for having doubted my intentions, and said that they stemmed from his not having been himself. Frankly, I wonder whether it's completely true -- this reconciliation may have begun more because he looked around and figured out that weren't a lot of ports he could turn to against this storm. However, it's a start -- which is what I've been hoping for for the past several weeks.

I'm not quite sure what pitch Dale is hoping to make to Don Marzano, but it won't be the first time that I've followed his lead into a meeting and trusted him to find the approach that would work. And he doesn't realize yet that we have one extra ally in Angie -- that's something I'm saving as a hole card myself. He's supposed to be here in a little while, and then we'll drive over in tandem. Wish us luck, and all I can tell you is I hope I'll be able to report back later on what happened . . .

P.S. -- I've pretty much confirmed that Dale does not have any living family remaining. As far as Diana goes, her parents and younger sister are both alive -- but I hope you'll forgive me for not releasing their names. In light of the tragedy, I don't think any of them would feel comfortable raking thru the coals of Diana's life with strangers -- and to be blunt, some of your fellow investigators can be pretty obnoxious in their questioning (not to mention whoever this Posession910 is -- I certainly wouldn't wish such an albatross around anyone's neck).

investigation.
The sooner the word gets out that Dale has had a breakthru, the sooner
that our
lives can get back to normal.

With all the rain this weekend, I spent some time looking through old
books and
papers. It's amazing the memories that come to the surface when we pore
thru
our past.
