Now this is interesting.....remember this?

why w?s six ?fr?id of seven G - ROT 1
why was six afraid of seven G - ROT 0
why was six afraid of seven G - ROT 25

According to The Sacred Number '13'

In MesoAmerican art the "G" symbol is a representation of the 13 and is considered the cosmic egg. The "G" also represents our galaxy, the Milky Way. It is pronounced "Hay" or "Hay ya". Native Americans sing "Hay ya", the sacred "G", to the heavens still today. They are aware of the source of this power of 13 and the creative energy that emanates from the center of the source of creation and the center of our Universe. Our entire Universe is an actual expanded view of the Mayan cycles of time at work

Update at in88:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
twwsioiqv
look again

After the "not everything is significant" comment comes this:

tqsmbpmwzhwzbpmuigiva
like the orz or the mayans

Farther down, after the "I tried to add thirteen to v but omg it was larger than z what do I do?" comment, is this:

qbzqmlbwacjbzikbwvmbemvbgmqopbnzwuwvmbemvbgwvmjcbqbeiaauitt
mzbpivhmzwwuoepiblwqlw

I tried to subtract one twenty eight from one twenty one but it was smaller than zero omg what do I do?

"Consult the old woman" has now changed to "Consult the green old woman"

And:
qngwceivbmlbwuismiumaaiomtqsmbpqaumaaiompmzmpweewctlgwclwqbif you wanted to make a message like this message here how would you do it

---------------------------------------------------

Using some of the above logic....there are two new solves, the third escapes me.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Subtracting 128 from each number.....not sure about 121 and 105, or rather how to get there as for 105 I guessed that it needed to be an "e" after getting "trouv_". The "y" (121) I'm unsure of as well....

Just a thought.. Maybe when subtracting 128 to the code and you get less than 0 you have to subtract the remainder from the last ascii value, 127. That way you would get the "Y" in "OY", by subtracting the 7 ( 121 - 128 ) from 127 you get 120 ( y ). And in the same way (105 - 128) you would get the word "trouvi". I don't know french, but the word exists so maybe it's just another use of "trouve".

I don't know, that's the method I originally used, since there's been so many references to "just wrap it around again"....that's how I gotthe "Y".

But the reason I put the question mark there, is that to me "trouve" made sense, but the same method does not give you an"e"....and although by reading it in sentences via google - I can tell that some people use "trouvi" for "found", I can't find a translator that will define it. Slang maybe?

But I like the explanation and since it seems (by use in sentence) to mean the same thing - thanks!

On http://daemon.chaoseed.com/dwlogin.php

122 150 159 157 074 017 139 074 141 146 139 152 145 143 086 074 154 150 159 157 074 141 081 143 157 158 074 150 143 074 151 020 151 143 074 141 146 153 157 143 088 074 109 081 143 157 158 074 010 074 142 147 156 143 086 074 150 139 074 155 159 143 157 158 147 153 152 074 143 157 158 074 158 153 159 148 153 159 156 157 100 074 107 152 139 158 139 074 161 139 074 158 139 149 159 157 139 152 074 158 157 159 163 153 147 074 142 143 157 159 074 149 139 088

Translates to:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
PLUS GA CHANGE, PLUS C'EST LE MEME CHOSE. C'EST _ DIRE, LA QUESTION EST TOUJOURS: ANATA WA TAKU SAN TSUYOI DESU KA.

Now all I did was:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Guess where the space was - #074
In order to get to the ascii # for "space" you have to subtract 42
I then just subtracted 42 from each number

I dunno....having a bit of a time with the translation

I know this isn't the method of solve. I think the "G" in "GA" maybe should be a "C".....but until one of you math whizzes figures out exactly how it's being encrypted.....lol....we'll never know.

Also the word "151 020 151 143" - 020 nets us a "J" using the same method as the "OY", when I know it probably should be an "E".....

Using absolutely no math skills whatsoever.....I think that "OY" from above might be "OX"

Which would make sense with the "STRONG AS".......ever hear the saying "Strong as an ox"?

The best I can get with my rudimentary French is:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The more it changes, the more it stays the same. That is to say - the question always does.

And the closest thing I could get to the Japanese making sense is something like:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Do you have enough strength?

I'm sure it's total coincidence, but if you convert those to letters, wrapping around with the 51 you get dykdoys

.....which ROTs to xsexism.... Shocked

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
and thanks for finding my typos
your welcome.....

Refreshed set of #s, refers to the #s/French above. One typo on each of the first three lines.

017 should be 177
020 should be 178
010 should be 175

Still haven't got the solve down, but am muddling through....

French should read:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose. C'est a dire, la question est toujours.

Which is a well known phrase:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The more things change, the more they remain the same.

So full quote (I think):
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The more things change, the more they remain the same. That is to say, the question always does. Do you have enough (alot of) strength?

I don't remember these? Refresher anyone?

I really don't know where to go from here, the only "green old woman" I can think of is the green witch bmp file on in8. Google doesn't bring up much either. I feel a little overwhelmed with the sheer volume of information, and don't have a clue what to do with it. I'm sure it's staring us in the face, but just how do we earn our passage across the river?

I get the feeling from the dialogue that there are different routes we can take and we are instead all over the place, but I'm at a loss as to how to do anything differently.

What does "Strong as....." and "Wide as...." have to do with anything? And what about "Why was six afraid of seven?" The text on pollux? Where would that lead us? And what is up with the archives? And the ham radio communication? Where does this cult town fit in, and "The Master of Earth"? And what was up with Bionic(Commando in the the bmp file? See what I mean, seems to be multiple facets....

And who the heck has Jill and why?

Well, first, I must explain something I put in the Jan Termin text box. It has a lot to do with that, really.

During the moment when it was found by entering lament in door_to.php, I entered the following:

125 153 086 074 161 146 139 158 081 157 074 158 146 143 074 152 143 162 158 074 155 159 143 157 158 147 153 152 105

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Apparently, he figured it out. Use the same subtraction as the French quote - 42 - and you get:

So, what's the next question?

There is, of course, a joke here. 42 is the Answer to the Question regarding Life, the Universe, and Everything in _The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy_, and, whenever you know them both, one ends up changing.

So, in case that page ever shows up again, you now know what to do with it. Wink

Shocked How did u get it??

And about not getting the bait, they keep on posting text snippets at random without any apparent story to drive the game, or bait us. The fun in cracking number codes starts going away if there's no story to weave the clues together...

Totally right, GG

You are correct. It seems like this is a series of unrelated puzzles without a plot other than some random dude messing with the pics and code every other day or so. Kinda losing something. BTW and totally unrelated, Dark Tower rocks! Sorry, same method as the other ones. Only instead of
(for example in "Strong As"):
211-128=83 (S)

With this one you have to go the extra step:

169-128 = 41
128-41 = 87 (W)

Don't ask me how or why I used 128.....I started out identifying the spaces and working out an equation that worked from there, I'm sure there's an actual mathematical method to it, but I suck at finding stuff like that.

As to the story line....I'm not giving up yet. I have a feeling that we've been given a lot of help to get going in the right direction, a direction that would lead us to further plot points. I just don't think we've found our way yet. And there may not be a huge storyline involved.....but I'm okay with that too.

On element0.htm, if you go backframe by frame you get to a point where there is white text that says:

vis wuz here
you sneaky

Doesn't help much, but there it is anyway.

I'm not sure about the update numbers being a puzzle....

I don't know what the first number is, after seeing a 4 and then a 6 yesterday I assumed it was the "update number". However today it's a 0.
But the next three seem to be "date" and the last three maybe "time".

0 28 11 04 10 52 19
"0?" Novemeber 28/04 at 10:52:19

0 could be 10 - since we're interested in the last update, the difference in numbers might simply indicate how many changes since we last checked. As long as it's less than ten, of course. ^_^;;

Figured it out:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It's the day of the week. 0=Sunday, 1=Monday, and on up to 6=Saturday.

Oh, and select all on that text shows there's a bit more:

So:

Reading top to bottom, left to right - "on a previous page called in8 you took the bait quickly but now why are you stumped on this last step"

So remembering how we got the phrase "take the bait":
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Go back to in88 and look at the first letter of each paragraph (I can't believe we missed this)....

You get:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"you and me"

So enter:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"us" and it takes you to the Jan Termin page (lament.htm)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Entering something in the text box nets you the merci page and it's title is mourn.

In addition to the "Thank you. Have a nice day Smile" it also now says "time until this page vanishes: 65056"

Obviously a countdown ending in seconds (64769 64741 64726 ......)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So with the term "this last step" and the countdown, is that it?

It's probably the end of this round, with the next one starting at the end of that timer.

Oh, and you have about 26000 seconds to check the source code:

Other notes:

The picture explains SWHD - it's the nigh-infamous Xelloss quote from the Slayers anime series, "Sore wa...himitsu desu." The common translation: "That...is a secret."

There's two free codes for door_to: "french", which leads to the french tutorial on french.about.com, and "logon please", which leads to SWHD. There's also some mention of Viz, and Campbell is referenced. There's also a website, http://www.irccv.org, which...is a human services website in the state of Washington.

Quick note: That was the source code of merci, with the hint to check being the err64; that was, apparently, manually placed there.
