nothing to add, just want to remind people of this, one of the very few remaining unsolved puzzles

I haven't seen grumpyboy around in awhile, but last time he and varin were working on this, they were talking about mathematical constructs called hexominoes. Do a google search and you'll find plenty of hits. Definitely fits the pattern that we're seeing on the page, but I'm unsure of where to go with it...

From "A Voice in Ourmy Head" over on the General/Updates board:

Code:
For those who're not settled to take all in stride,
Just go for a walk, the flavortext your guide.
Separate concepts, they should not confound --
Those that are hidden aren't deep or profound.
Seek ye these out, and follow the text,
For it shall then send you to the steps that are next
One steadfast answer swims its four-color bath -
Can you help shape the one unique path?
Will it drive you to madness? That depends what you know;
This all might leave you sane but an instant (or so).

hey

Yeah, I should have signed my name to the bottom of that - just a note to clarify that I posted a hint after several people requested one...

Hint #2

Wicked and sinful are but one and the same -
They number too many for the sum of my game.
Seek ye what is hidden - yet these you have found,
You just need to yoink them from where they are bound.
In an instant of insanity or whether you're dead,
You might want to refresh what Kender has said.

Don't have much to go on here, but this line might be a clue:
"Wicked and Sinful are one and the same"

As ElGamer pointed out:
Quote:
Wicked and Sinfull don't have any red, and Unholy doesn't have any blue...

There are a couple other words that don't have all four colors. I've highlighted them in an image, but aside from the center it's not very interesting. Some areas could concieveably be letters (the center, for example, looks like a fancy "A". The bottom left could be an L etc)

Tegcon/Cogent - No Black
Wnruap/Unwrap - No Blue
unlcte/lucent - No Green
ttnpea/patent - No Blue
nlhuoy/UnHoly - no Blue
kdewic/wicked - no Red
flsnui/sinful - no Red
lnoose/loosen - no Black
Dfounl/unfold - no Red

No Red:
Wicked
Sinful
Unfold

No Blue:
Unwrap
patent
unholy

No Green:
lucent

No Black:
Cogent
Loosen

Hope this helps!

Another idea, again using Sin's poem as a hint, is to check which words are "the same" - there are a lot of synonyms in the list. For example, we might be able to match them up as so:

sinful / wicked
unfurl / unfold
bright / lucent
latent / buried
spared / redeem
direct / candid
crypto / veiled
poison / malice
patent / smooth
unwrap / loosen
gaping / tenths
limpid / reveal
cogent / likely
public / useable
caveat / marked
horrid / guilty
malign / unholy
malice / diablo

Just noticed -- a lot of those synonyms are close together. Maybe this is what Sin's first poem was referring to -- a path linked by the synonyms?

I've drawn some links -- certainly by no means a definative guide, but an interesting Concept piece.

Wow someone else is working on it. Uhhh Well I was thinking that SinV was saying that Wicked and Sinful have some sort of other word attached, or maybe a number, but this one was too big for what we're solving.
OR, maybe he was giving some other clue, He said that we've found the 'hidden' things but they need to be yoinked. If we yoink them off the page, from where they are bound, then maybe rearrange them somehow, We might get the message. However, I'm very busy so... I can't really do much other than quick specs

Coop, I was thinking along the same idea.
Here are some of my ideas (out loud) that I have no clue how to accomplish:
Go back to Kender's post (the very first one in this thread).
Words have been made from each of the blocks.
Match up the obvious ones and pull them aside.
What is left that doesn't match?

Try folding that damn cube. Maybe the Cube is the key (again, from Kender's post).
What words are matched up from one side of the cube to the other?

/me goes back to her real job

Are we looking for a four-color path?

'wicked' and 'sinful' are the same in that they are both inside the outline of a cross. "They number too many" -- too many what? Are six-letter words too long? Or that we've found too many words, and need to find a single word (perhaps using the colors)?

black GTYHOEIFNRIGMMPIN
red LLURNCAS
blue IKDSOIELO
green UNYCWLUIHDALIO

[EDIT: because my attachment disappeared, here it is again.

Instant Mashed Potatoes - a Thanksgiving Treat

Guilty, horrid, and malign
With wicked/malice do align;
Add sinful, poison, and unholy,
Together make evil guacamole.
But these eight - they are twice as much
Just as Diablo is a quarter such.
Lo, to bring what is hidden to light.
Though evil does not dwell in the outer sanctum,
You must pull your friends from among those who have flanked 'em
And follow the musings of myour brain
One step to the next, as IweI go insane.
Please, oh please, help usme in myour plight.

i was talking to myself in the chat room...

[20:01] <cather|away> ok, so we need the stuff outside of the inner cross, and with sin_vraal's latest nudge...
[20:01] <cather|away> the 8 around DIABLO are twice, and the 1 diablo is only a quarter, meaning we want 4 of something
[20:02] <cather|away> "Ah, to take the four hidden corners / of ourmy mind ..."
[20:04] <cather|away> long shot notion: all of the hidden words are 6-letters, but not all sets can be rolled up to form a cube
[20:04] <cather|away> maybe only 4 of the words are blocked out in a proper unfolded cube layout?
[20:47] <cather|away> "see four with six as one"...

so i went looking for all of the ways to unfold a cube. However, i found more than 4 words in the grid would fold into a cube.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
likely
crypto
buried
redeem
veiled
candid
latent/talent
Would someone confirm these?

I feel like we have plenty to solve this, so i hope to make more progress before Sin_Vraal pops an artery ;)

I interpreted his latest clue to mean that there are four words that, when cut out and fit together would form the same shape as Diablo and the eight words that form the outside cross. Given that each word is 6 letters, there would be (4 words) x (6 letters) = 24 total letters / (6 sides) = 4 letters per side.

Code:

     __
    |xx|
    |xx|
    |xx|
   _|xx|_
  |xxxxxx|
  |xxxxxx|
   -|xx|-
    |xx|
     --

unless the cross itself is rotated...

eg.
        __
       |xx|
    ___|xx|_
   |xxxxxxxx|
   |xxxxxxxx|
    ----xx--
       |xx|
        --

Given no side->side wrapping, that would mean that aside from the middle part there's no pieces wider than two letters across. This is also assuming the pieces would remain in the same position (unrotated).
