Laughing Heheh. Funny, and unfortunately all true.

Speaking of the Halo 2 engine, I've found you can "force" the textures to disappear. Pause the game and press Y to open your Friends/Clan/Recent Players list. You'll notice behind these windows that the textures disappear from the environments. Apparently the Friends window is memory intensive enough that the Xbox can't keep it and the textures loaded at the same time. And they don't redraw for a half second or so after you get back into the game. This could be useful for secret-searching. Maybe viewing the levels in their raw state might reveal some difficult to see ledges, crevices, or walls. I'm just babbling here, but it could be worth a try.
