i'd say the same as firefox, the image looks really generic, like you could get it searching for 'cube' or something on google image search.

I am slightly curious as to who found this and how. When searching ebay for syzygy, the cube, or perplex city I do not find it (admittidly though, I really don't use ebay...) I notice TJ229ER is the one who first posted it, was it you who found it? If it was, I applaud you.

As far as the hoax issue, I'm sorta thinking its not. This may be wishful thinking, but it seems like a whole lot to go through in my opinion to fool us.

Concerning the numbers, I don't have any photo enhancement software or photoshop, but I see 121128351325, but do thsese numbers mean anything to anyone?

Is this a little obvious but remember the Merchants quote -

you have to search the UK ebay (www.ebay.co.uk) for "the cube", and the numbers dont mean anthing ,to me at least.

Tried running the numbers
121128351336
through dec ASCII, as 1 2 11 28 35 13 36,and got a...

-things that don't matter, header, text start, etc-
-a vertical tab-#
$

No other viable conversions, from what I can see, unless it's something like

121 12 83 51 33 6

Because they don't seem to turn up anything over 250. So, if there ARE numbers in there, and this IS ingame, it's not showing up to me. I'll look into it a bit more, but... Just not seeing anything right now.

EDIT: Looking at the picture... I'm seeing something moreso like

121128351924

which I still can't find anything ASCII-ish in it that makes any sense to me, even if I run it through the ROT-er.

After reading a couple of overviews, the subject doesnt seem to have anything to do with what we're doing. Aliens crashland on earth, and make friends with a coupla humans... Got good reviews though. The guy only has one other book, and the subject sounds like the old tv series quntum leap. Some guy falls off his motorbike and wakes up covered in blood in the middle of a war. Sounds interesting but not on our path, i smell a set up, unless its not related to the ISBN and its just a coincidence.
