 		It was, but don't worry about it.

We're still looking for a name of who that text got passed down to. I'm also tempted to think it might be asking to be e-mailed, instead of slipped into the door_to.php page. Of course, I'm getting nowhere on either front.

 		Some additional items
Hi everyone,

I just started on these puzzles Thursday (I'm sure there's been a small surge of newcomers as it's the headline on ARGN). Anyhow, I thought I'd share with you anything extra that I've found so far...

First, I haven't seen this code word mentioned:

Second, a correction for one of the French codes:

The correct translation is:
V. - Où avez-vous trouvé cette photo? - P.
Which takes on the meaning of "Where did you find this/that photo" Still not sure what the V P is for.


Another correction for the page updates (not exactly a spoiler):

When you submit "update" it takes you to the page with the text latest update W DD MM YY HH MM SS (where it's obviously a timestamp). However, no one has mentioned yet that the "latest update" always is the CURRENT time. I don't know if this is just an error or what.


To reply to the few posts above me.. this "try again" page is a funny way of saying to us "close only counts in horsehoes and grenades"

There also appears to be an update to pollux. The last French phrase there now reads: Le convive de mon voisin... rather than L'invité de mon voisin... This is essentially the same thing, but has a greater connotation of a dinner guest. [minored in French.. glad it's finally paying off.. heh] Since this was updated.. I'm thinking it's pretty important to the next steps. Unfortunately, I don't know what to do with the 8.3.

With all the talk about water & strength/size, I have tried a number of responses including tsunami, waterfall, typhoon, hurricaine, etc. but so far no dice. Will let you know if I find anything.

 		Some other thoughts
Thought 1:

So, I was searching for some hints and stumbled upon some things. I don't know how much of this is relavent - I haven't found any new pages on DaemonWorks, but I think there are some interesting ties here.

I was trying to think about a connection between ePSXe and the rest of the site, and decided it was exactly what was already said by vidstudent - he's interested in video games. I decided to search for some information on Bionic Commando [decoded from the witch graphic]. When I was viewing some "memorable quotes" one of the ones that came up was "PI PI PI". This is the same beginning and ending that was used on the other text-in-graphic code [inspector gadget].

On the same site was information about a very similar game on the nintendo, Golgo-13. Now, this hit another point... One of the other decrypted hints we had was "his number is 13". This whole time I had been thinking of Caesar and his use of Rot-13, but I guess it could also refer to Golgo.


Unfortunately I tried a number of characters and subjects from the entries above but no luck. Maybe you will have better luck with it.

Thought 2:

Also, it had been said that no one knew what to do with the 7-8-9 reference from earlier. I'm pretty sure this was just his funny way of telling us how he had encoded the very next hidden lines of text on that same page.

Thought 3:

In the log file, there is mention of "InvaderDIB" For some reason I thought to write it in lower case. dib. Turn it upside down. What do you see? qip. The same letters that are found on the homepage. Not sure what it means [if anything] but thought I'd let you know.

Lastly, looks like he's fixed the last updated mechanism. Haven't searched around for any other updates though.

Yes I did, feel free to copy it and start a thread...all the looping of RPG/chinese philosophy was my downturn (even though I never rightly understood where it all fit in or if it did)...

The pollux page has changed yet again.. It seems like it randomly picks a beginning and end, so the four possibilities are:

Le convive de mon voisin mange un tas de
Le convive de mon voisin mange beaucoup de
L'invité de mon voisin mange un tas de
L'invité de mon voisin mange beaucoup de

The 8.3 has been dropped. I was doing some searching with some of the key words above and the very first hit brought back what I thought was a definite answer:

A japanese tongue twister:
Tonarino kyaku-wa yoku kaki kuu kyaku-da
(I also found it as:
Tonari no kyaku wa yoku kaki kuu kyaku da )

Which means roughly:
My neighbor's guest eats lots of persimmons


Sort of fit in with a lot of the themes, but I've had no luck. Hope I'm not barking up the wrong tree.

 		Apparently, you're not - the words "persimmon" and "persimmons" now lead to pollux.php as well.

Now, the trick is that 8.3 bit.

This is the closest translation I could come up with:

Googling "Kangaeremasu" didn't help very much, so I'm left with instinct for it.


I googled the rest of it to find translations, but I have no idea what he wants us to do with this one.

I'm kinda out of things on this language path, unless he randomly decides to switch to HochDeutsch. There's a language I can speak!

...don't try to trace back that link to its source page. >_<

So, aside from it being a verb, don't ask me. It leaves little in terms of context clues.

 		Hey folks, I'm new here, but I think I can help with the translation (my one semester of Japanese here):

The Japanese verb "kangaeru" means "to think/ponder"

The -masu (present) form should be "kangaemasu" though, so it doesn't fit exactly.

Also, "matte" is based off "matsu" (to wait).

 		Seems that the page may have been updated - when I just looked at it, I didn't see the "Matte shinpai shinai de" line, but I do have something new in the alt for the jpg.

It's the program line that allows him to instantly rotate his text eight characters, forcing us to ROT-18 to reverse the process. All that's missing is the input lines and variable initialization.
