Let's not just say someone gave them to you. tell us more? pretty please?

It strikes me as odd that someone would be standing around in Chapel Hill, NC handing out postcards as a publicity stunt (especially because everything so far - the Guardian ad, etc. - has gone through major European chains). Even if they had decided to make an appearance on the other side of the Atlantic - yippee! - I would have expected postcards to be distributed in a major city.

Then again, this game is supposed to go far beyond all our expectations Smile[/b]

While we wait for someone to get a postcard and a scanner together, I figured I'd make the pic more skyliney for those who couldn't see it:

At the very bottom in small print the card reads: "Image on reverse: 'Perplex City Sleeps' (artist unknown), #02 in a series of postcards depicting the city at night. The full set is available from the Academy gift shop."
Ok, how convenient that the artist is "unknown", and where is "The Academy"?!

One guess would be that "The Academy" is at http://www.perplexcityacademy.com/ , and that if/when it goes live, there will be something like /giftshop there, where we can browse "the full set" of these cards. Although it makes more sense to me that they would release all or at least most of the cards in the set simultaneously Confused (which would mean that there are other designs out there already, and they haven't been found yet).

2210 being the year kinda baffles me. We know that Marchant wanted The Cube (given he was actually talking about The Cube, and not something else) in 148 AC. If it's 2210 [AC] in Perplex City now, then either somebody other than Marchant took it now, or they implemented a different timeline. Or 2210 is not a year.

About to go...

Insane! Some of you are going to drive me insane! Can I please just remind all of us that this is a game, and one that hasn't started yet at that... I don't think you're missing much in not having the card for 24 hours while I go through my finals!
Anyway, all hope is not lost. You can relax and breathe: I'm emailing the scans of the card to Wishi-san since apparently the files were too large to be put directly onto Incognitus. Good news for you guys- the detail is great for viewing even the tiny text.
Now, please relax ALSO b/c I'm going to tell you about how I got the cards-
Was studying in a busy cafe here with a friend of mine. I was the third person to arrive at the table, and we were sitting with a girl we didn't know. (As you know during final exams, students often cram as many ppl to a table as poss!) When she left, there were a few cards on the table. I just assumed they belonged to my friend, but when we got up to leave she didn't pack them up. She just said they must have belonged to the girl that had been sitting there.... or someone else. Who knows?!
And what makes anyone think that Chapel Hill, NC is an unlikely place for the cards? I would expect you to say something more like, "Wow, this game is amazing since it's EVERYWHERE" instead! Chapel Hill is a major university town...
Hope you enjoy the scans. Best of luck in deciphering... I can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Semacode

Well, it seems that the image in the upper right corner of the back of the postcard is, in fact, semacode. More specifically, it appears to be part of a semacode. Perhaps the lower right corner of a semacode?

For more information see http://www.semacode.org

Does anyone have a Siemens Smartphone or a Ericsson 900 series? My T616 won't work apparently.

It was said in chat by Shish and I'm inclined to agree: Perplex City Postal Service

Anyone else notive the lines in the bottom left side of the skyline?
And there is some writing in themiddle of hte back of the card. "Despite hightened security Academy tours are still running twice daily from Gatehouse twelve. Advance booking essential". Strange thing to have on a postcard.

Did we ever decide on the names around the logo? Can anyone make them out?

Maybe one of the "two Lauras" left it?
