I was so sure someone was going to crack this while I was away for the weekend. Alas, no one has, and there hasn't been an update to the site. Evil or Very Mad Personally, I'm at a loss as to what to try next. I've gone through a bunch of differnet passwords for mace's account. I've googled a bunch of stuff on the Undertaker, wrestling and tattoos, and have tried numerous english, french, japanese and rot passwords and have come up with nothing.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

The site's been updated.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
New things on lg8.htm:

twwsioiqv
ROT-18 'look again'

Trggvat pebjqrq va urer, uhu?
ROT-13 'Getting crowded in here, huh'

nzktcmrxbeqabrxktcm...
ROT-18 'fr clue jp twist jp clue...'

Bqu dwpujwud, uzwq dbezpjpjr pj qpd ihj vpeuwbpij, qzou qpbquebi qzekuv ad lpbblu; xab diku vzy bqu gpuwpjr birubque is vpddiwpzbuv mjihluvru
Which isn't a ROT.

And a new image, daemon3.png which is alt-tagged 'hint'. It's really light. I uploaded a darkened version. If the characters are actually Chinese, I should have a translation within an hour.

Whee! Nice to know bitching gets me hints Wink I'll try not to abuse it tho. Laughing

Since I can't read Japanese, I"m not going to even make a hint as to what it says (unless it turns out just to be some random substitution). The other part of the picture does have me wondering though. I know that the Undertaker has a lot of tattoos, even one on his neck that says "Sara" (the name of his wife). I wonder if the x'd circle means that it's not dealing specifically with the Undertaker (but then again, I thought dbuta's login name was sysadmin until it was found - so what do I know).

Anyway, I have a bunch of stuff I'm trying to get caught up on tonight (travelling 4 hours to see a BNL concert means your whole weekend is shot - but still totally worth it), but I will start trying things again tomorrow if its not solved by then.

The text on that pretty infamous Japanese sign essentially reads "People sporting tattoos will be reported to the police" and is a reference to the negative stereotyping of tattooed individuals in Japanese culture due to association with the Yakuza.

M.Ace Password.

Been watching for about a week now. Most of this is beyond me, but the hint was something I could figure out...

Michael Ace
I'm supposed to write something about myself or crap like that. I don't have much to say. I let my actions speak for me. I do my best to follow Mr. Zhang's instructions and keep order here. Usually it's not hard, just looking competent can do it. That's something I learned long ago. Of course it works the other way, I've been arrested for having ugly tattoos. But that's all in the past.

I guess I had something to say after all.

Don't know where this leads, but there it is.

Heh, good work. I didn't even take the time to try any new passwords after I did my little post. Though its still not really relevant to the clues he gave...unless the Undertaker has some sort of Yakuza connections I'm not aware of. Maybe Daniel's last name could be taken as Japanese...that might explain it a little. But its not really a Japanese name per se...its Japanese for pig...

PS -

Daniel's page is updated with mention of Jill...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Daniel Buta Hey, what about that girl who was using the computer earlier? You know who I mean, the only one in this whole town that cares about the net. Jill?
Master Bao Daniel, you know that is not possible.

Floralia also has a page now...

Quote:
Apparently this is a place I can record private thoughts and feelings, with only my master having access. If Daniel can be believed, that is. I do not feel the need to record anything here, as my thoughts are public knowledge. My life is filled with the grace of Idunn and Quetzalcoatl.

As Quetzalcoatl visited the underworld and returned, so shall our faith be rewarded. Master Bao's beloved Monkey had to steal the apples of immortality from Heaven, but I have faith that Idunn shall grant us our due if we are but steadfast and devoted.

That sounds a *lot* like Son Goku.

OK, for that cipher that isn't a ROT,

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

can be worked into:
The sciences, each straining in his own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

This text is found in the opening paragraph of "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovecraft.

Master Bao has put a comment on Mace's page.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Michael, I deferred to your judgement earlier but I now feel I must ask; are the restraints truly necessary? Couldn't you just keep the door locked or something? You realize that injury is not to be thought of in this situation.

----

Does this mean Michael has Jill? If so, it would seem that she needs to be kept injury free for whatever ceremony they need her for.

----

It seems that not only does Flora mix up her Aztec and Mayan gods, she also messes up her fruits. Sun Wukong (also called Sun Hou Zi) was the Monkey King who stole the peaches of immortality from Heaven. I'm still trying to see if this may yield us the password to zbao's account.

Here's some more on the monkey and apples:

http://www.csi.edu/ip/englfl/faculty/cdraney/1_fall2004/engl175-c01_lit/etexts/oconnor_good-man/33.1schaum.html

"The mischievous Monkey King of Chinese lore stole and consumed the Peaches of Immortality that belonged to the Taoist gods, just as the Norse trickster Loki introduced age and death into the world by snatching away the Apples of Immortality and tricking their keeper, the goddess Idunn."

Ooh, they snuck in an update to the yturbans page that no one noticed.

Quote:
Research Mayan solstice festival
More about Quetzalcoatl's destined return
Schedule Ginger Gold shipments

I've tried a bunch of different keywords about the Monkey King & the Peaches for zbao's password, but still nothing yet. I'll keep trying after lunch though.

on a completely unrelated topic, has anybody else received any e-mails from anyone in-game? i got something from charonSPLATchaoseed.com last week, and i was just wondering if anyone got anything else from him.

if you care, here's what he sent me:
Quote:
Ah, I sense a kindred spirit, one who delights in the thrill of diving in and enduring the tangles and frustrations--in the rush of the snare?

Your enthusiasm is appreciated.

I shall be in touch.

oh, and that rush of the snare part... it's a reference to my name. thought i'd clarify just to avoid potential frustration, because it took me a couple of seconds to figure out that he/she/it was talking about me.

That's the second address to e-mail us. The first was visSPLATchaoseed.com - the occasional clue would pop our way every so often.

Now, the bigger question: Has anyone tried e-mailing either of them *back*? I know I haven't; the limit of my communication with vis has been through the Jan Termin page.

Another update to yturbans - seems we must be on the right track with the monkey/peach idea.

Quote:
"Life of Zhang Jiao" pamphlets
Run off more "Journey to the West" pamphlets
Order more pepper spray for Michael

Bold is me. The tale of the Monkey King going to get the Peaches is called Journey to the West. So I'm guessing its just a matter of finding the correct keyword to use as the password. Time to go googling.

Ya, I know, new post - but I don't want ppl thinking I haven't found anything (and this seems important)

Looks like something big is going to happen tomorrow (from mace's page)

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Master Bao: By the way, everything is in hand for tomorrow's ceremony? I just want to make sure. It should be pretty quiet, but we can view it as "practice" for more ornate occasions.

And for completion, Daniel also has a new comment on his page:
Daniel Buta: Well, no harm in asking.

And on Flora's page:
Master Bao: Floralia, before the ceremony tomorrow I shall need you in my chambers for some, well, review.

Ack! New clues on lg8!

Quote:
<!--twwsioiqv-->
<!--eiqbeiabpqaquiomiteigabpqaquiom-->

ROT-18: look again & wait was this image always this image
(i'll look at that in a minute) - seems to be the same as the original tattoo pic, maybe i just missed this comment earlier in the day, but feel free to double check cuz i suck at manipulating pictures took another shot at playing with the picture, and i'm now fairly confident that they appear to be the same picture (for what its worth)

Quote:

Not a ROT - will see if its the same subsitution as the lovecraft line from before nope, it's not. i'm almost positive this comment wasn't here earlier, so maybe the comment about the pic is new and there is something differnet about it.
