"Two and Half Men" Immersion

Well, someone over at CBS gets it.

How many times have you seen a phone number or website mentioned on a TV show, but it's fictional. Well, in the sitcom Two and a Half Men, seems the lead character played by Charlie Sheen discovers via a Google search of his own name that a disgruntled ex has put up a website: www.charlieharpersucks.com . He then finds a message board where all these women post about their one night stands with him. It's pretty funny.

Well, the great thing is, the site's live, complete with message board with posts from the characters. I know, I know, it's not much, but it's good to see the someone's finally seeing the logic of doing something like this. Plus a little marketing on the side never hurts.

Kudos to Chuck Lorre Productions and CBS for figuring it out. Smile

That is hysterical.
I hope it is keeping track of hits. Maybe they'll do more with it (and maybe CBS will do more).

Who is doing the NUMB3RS TV series this spring? That one is ripe for internet puzzle solving connections.

They did something like this a few years back on BUFFY, where one of the (minor) characters had her own angst-ridden blog, complete with bad goth poetry and the like. And it was a legitimate site. Except that, for some godforsaken reason, the show's writers decided to host it on GEOCITIES of all things (probably to raise up the "crap verisimillitude" quotient), and as a result most people who checked out the site didn't believe it was real until Emperor Joss himself went on like AICN or something and copped to being behind the whole thing. Hee.

CSI did one, too, for some Dungeon/BDSM thing. Complete with embedded sound file of cracking whip, right before it re-directed to the CSI official website ...
