Seconded. I realize that the mods don't appreciate dupe accounts, but I didn't get that they are outright banned. If they are, I'd love it if a mod could explain why.
Or [total SPEC] pronage is a PM, or somehow related to the PM. The message simply didn't happen, it's just a roundabout way to get the rabbithole out. Since dropping a rabbit hole in a non-dupe account is okay, and the "NEW GAME" announcement doesn't say anything about private messages, it could be possible. But why bother making the story of a fake private message? Hmm...having a bit of trouble with a possible motive[/total SPEC]

That's why. It's a longstanding rule. And while this particular instance does not involve a 'duped account' (or so it seems), this supposed private message sent by a supposed Puppetmaster is, in my humble (personal) opinion, bad mojo around these parts, as UnFiction is strictly out-of-game. And if it was just a story that got people involved in a supposed ARG-type game, then so be it.

Not to mention, I'm totally with Senor Spacely in being a bit troubled by getting a PM right outta the bat. That means that (IF this is a new game even) someone is trolling the "newbies" for ARGs. And at worst, someone's trolling the newbies for prey of whatever information they get by luring someone to some website or whatever...
So, pronage... c'mon... honest now... is this for a game you've made? Dutch copy of DaVinci code... Amsterdam Yahoo Group.... picture of a sleeping baby for an avatar... (ok so that last one doesn't really help the theory, just thought it was funny, and I think I'd cut off my own arm if it was funny enough... )

wow, only 775 groups show up on http://groups.yahoo.com/ with the keyword Amsterdam. Most of which seem to cover sex or drugs, unsurprisingly.

Again, I really can do nothing with this, since I don't have a dutch copy of DaVinci code, and I am at work, so looking up Amsterdam Groups will most likely (just the odds, man) get me fired, so my suggestion is to look up via keywords other than Amsterdam...
There's gotta be a DaVinci code thing going on, if that's the trailhead, or something.
(BTW, sorry to have "outted you" pronage, but I just wanted to make sure that people didn't worry about getting PM'd as soon as they signed up for unfiction, ya know? But otherwise, very convincing/realistic trailhead! Oh, and just so ya know, I wasn't making fun of the avatar, just making a stupid joke since I had only tenuous clues to your creation of the game... )

Any way to change the title of this thread? "What the hell is this?" is getting annoying (it's becoming a common default title for people unsure of their spam email messages). Now that you know this is a Dutch DiVinci Code game - it can be labeled appropriately by a forum mod (or by the person who posted the first message).
