[UPDATE - kinda] witch0.bmp

We missed something in the witch0.bmp from the first time around.

We found the bionic(commando line and the numbers, but there are at least 2 more groups of characters intersperesed. I thought maybe it was garbage, but with the first group, so far I have "What's so special" so I don't think it's random. I have to leave work now, but if someone wants to work on it..it would be great...

Its another ASCII code thingy...find the ASCII of each character, and subtract 13, at least from the first set...

edit Okay, got the first part

Quote:
dun4€-€|-€}rpvny-no|‚-ur-{‚zor->@-n{†„n†L

What's so special about the number 13 anyway?

And the second set of characters:

Quote:
V4z-n-yvyr-€‚}v€rq-un-€|zr|{r-€u|„€-†|‚-ur-svyr{nzr-|s-n-}vp‚r-n{q-†|‚-p|z}nr-ur-svyr{nzr-|-n{q|z-o|q†-}n€; \νZ

Enjoy!

That raw data isn't really right, because the web page won't display characters like DEL or other unprintable ones. To mess with it, you really need to open the image.

I did the -13 ASCII conversion, and here's what I got for the first one:

and the second one:

I'm a little surprised that someone shows you the filename of a picture and you compare the filename to random body parts. OΰM

Note:
I'm not quite sure about that second to last character. The ASCII value of the original was 237.

hehe..ya i just got the 2nd one done. Good thing I refreshed before I posted. It could be that the last 3 letters aren't part of the inserted text...there is a bit of a space between the ; and the \

Still, I dont have a clue what he's talking about. And since this was a 13 shift, does it mean this is one of "his" messages (whoever "he" is)?

After playing around with the witch image, I took a look at daemon-1.png again.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

If you convert it to BMP and open it up in a text editor, you find
PI PI PI [some other characters] WE HAVE DETECTED AN INTRUDER [more ASCII characters] WE ARE GOING TO [still more ASCII] ATTACK.

which is of course more stuff from Bionic Commando.

Someone want to take a look at the extra stuff and see if anything's there?

Great find!! I never would have thought to convert to bmp first. I looked at it myself and didn't find anything else. As I don't know anything about Bionic Commando, I'm afraid I can't think of what the signifigance might mean.

Since Bionic Commando is a video game, the best place to check for info on it is GameFAQs. This page in particular has FAQs covering the game, including a dialogue guide. (Note: Linking to pages of FAQs is fine, but linking to the FAQs themselves is not. It makes CJayC unhappy.)
