i think that we are going to have to sacrifice some accuracy no matter WHAT we do, because technically nobody other than SPARTAN IIs should be in Mjolnir armor.
I think that i am going to have to ask you to "suspend your disbelief"
Or at least add another layer of suspension of disbelief about something you have already suspended your disbelief about. And imagine sombody was SPYING on you while you were doing that. And then sombody else was spying on THEM! Holy crap! Game is over for almost 2 months and this game is still twisting our minds in knots with layers and layers of weirdness. ARGGG!

Hmm, in case anyone remembers a time I mentioned my semi-pro television production work I'll throw in my two cents.
1. Video capture card is a bad idea. Hook the xbox up to a (mini)DV camera instead. this will really simplify things, immunize you against hardware glitches and under-runs, probably give you higher video quality, and give you a physical media backup just in case.
2. this will take a TON of time. totally ignoring the set up and prep time, this is ~ 6 hours of filming, 5 hours of ADR (or were you going to directly sub in the ILB audio?) 5 hours of digitization, 7 hours of Editing (VERY conservative - this is without any sort of lip sync), 2 hours of rendering, 10-20 hours of compression depending on hardware and codec.
3. You will need some sort of story-board and unless you will be massively infringing on 42's copyrights (as opposed to just 1/6 of them) you will need a script. You will need to pick locations and set up characters. If you are doing this in a different engine then H2 I assume you would need to start making new models, but I have no idea about all of that.
That said, don't let it discourage you. Knowing what's ahead is important. We've shown the power of distributed work before.
(I mean I won't do anything - I have projects people pay me for I don't have time to work on, but you. You go get 'em tiger!)

Well, if we do the original ILB story, then I would say you definitely have to plug in the audio from the website. But if we were to do something original, couldn't we just tape it over Live? All dialogue would be spoken over Live, so we wouldn't really have to worry about adding that later, unless that isn't how the recording software works. The legalities are another hurdle that we would have to worry about after we just find out if this is even possible. And I agree whole-heartedly that there will have to be scripts and story-boards involved. If everyone else is still interested in this task, I am here to help when I can.

love the idea about spartan 1.1s
lots of potential there...
and yes, this is by no stretch of the imagination an easy undertaking... this is massive.
But the reward would awsome.
I am drawing up storyboards for ILB now, and I hope that we can get a story going for the 1.1 idea.
We can attempt 1 chapter of each, and descide which is more reasonalbe to assume it will be stuck with for the long run.

I don't mean to step on anyone's toes, but even with the best acting and writing, the fact that the Spartan 1.1s would be running around in Mjolnir armor is kinda throwing the entire Halo story out the window... which I Love Bees is based on. Only the Spartan IIs can use the armor. If you want to do justice to I Love Bees, you have to have the same respect for the universe that birthed it in the first place.

Yeah, but halo doesnt give you much of a choice. I mean, they can either all be Spartan IIs, or they can all be Covie Elites. Which one screws up the story more?
And for incit... seriously. I'm telling you now. IF you want to do machinima for the WHOLE axon plot, you won't get very far. And there will be tons of scenes that simply wont make sense. IE how can you have Rani addressing the fake thug, talking about how he is dressing and what tattoos he has. LIke... how can she see his tattoos if he is wearing full body armor? Lots of things just wont make sense? Plus how are you going to do the scene where Mckaskill, J^2, and Jan all fit in one warthog? Put one in the gunner seat? Since when do civilian cars have gunner seats? that just doesnt make any sense.

or you grab a mod box or two and do a model swap for the player recording.

How 'bout this then: The end of Fall of Reach . Plenty of SII's running around in Mjolnir armor. And I guess all the Covies would just have to be Sangheili. (I love that name)
Although it would have been Mk5 armor and not the Mk6 you see in Halo 2, but there doesn't seem to be too much of a visible difference.

I'm pretty sure the legalities of using the H2 engine wouldn't be a problem as long as we aren't trying to profit. I mean, RvB does it and Bungie loves those guys. And I don't think 42 would have a problem with us using the axon audio either, they seem to be pretty cool about that kind of thing.

Your new armor is a mark six! Shields recharge much faster, we've added lots more bump maps. Take it slow till you get used to it.

I'm definitely taking part in this. I can do awesome voice acting (Aussie accent, evil laugh, plenty of voices, my fathers sound equipment) so I am THERE. Also getting XBOX live soon, so I'll be able to hook up with you guys online to make the movies.
As for story, I think it should be a comedy, give it a plot, and while we couldn't have the ILB characters in it... we could have the ILB artifact?

If you're doing a comedy, I've always wondered about the end of Halo - y'know when Cortana says there's nothing left, "just dust and echoes"? Did anybody else ever wonder if there could be a machinima about two marines left behind - Private Dust, and Corporal Ekows?
*crickets*
Just me? Okay then...
Seriously, if you were going to do something, I think it might be cool to look at one of the planets that fell - Coral has a lot of characters that are already established (from ilovebees and Esko from the Halo2 letters). Reach has a huge backstory associated with it. It would give you a different view on things happening at the time of Halo1/2 and ilovebees, have great possibility for drama/action, and in the case of Coral, could even tie-in to the artifacts of the Forerunners.
Just an idea (Which is as far as my creative ability stretches).

How about this:
In The Fall of Reach, it says there are three Spartans (I.E. 2.0s) that are too far away on assignment to be called back.
We know what happened to the Reach Spartans; they all died with the exceptions of Fred and Will (and Kelly). What about the unnamed three? All you'd have to do is explain how they got the new armor and you're set. You can even make up a lot of their background, as long as it stays fairly accurate to the story.
There's also an entirely new batch of IIs that CPO Mendez went to train after the Master Chief's group moved on, what happened to them?

well just to keep myself in the loop again, I'll volunteer for the video editing... as long as I've got the storyboards, and the video(s) from the person who recorded, I can piece together the video... whether the audio is done at the same time or later won't matter... it would be easier to cut the video to the audio, if it was a script that was read and recorded, or the video can be made, then the voice actors record while watching it, then the full audio/video re-rendered... the actual editing portion isn't hard to do (at least it wasn't for the last two 25minute +/- videos I made for other things)... as long as I've got the layout of the story, and the video file(s) with cross-references to the times where each clip takes place...

Alright, how about we just do something we think will be fun. Doesn't matter if the characters we portray were ever trained to be Spartans or use Mjolner armor. And who's to say the James family vehicle wouldn't have a gun turret on the back? They always seemed pretty prepared to me.
