UPDATE: New live Journal entry 19 June

5:27 pm made it.
The architecture here is very strange, very other-worldly. I was greated, on arrival, by the giant obelisk of the GWMM, and plan to make my way to the thinner-but-taller obelisk of the National Monument. And in between is a giant set of five interlocking pentagons -- whose idea was that design and how did they possibly get a design with such occult significance approved? Do they have a Cthulhu there entrapped?

Being from Australia, I needed to search to find the GWMM - what and where it is...

George Washington Masonic Memorial

End of King Street at Shooters Hill
Alexandria, VA 22314
703-683-2007

This 333 foot tall monument is a tribute to George Washington who served as the head of the original Alexandria Lodge No. 22. The observation floor which is reached by elevator offers magnificent views of the area.

Heh, being from the U.S. I still had no idea what the GWMM was.

Yikes, he's in town. The memorial is just down the road a ways. I've actually toured it. Frankly it's a wierd place if you're not a Mason, but they have a lot of original George Washington objects and books in their library (hence the name).
