Neurocam New Operatives' Network

Sub-Xero (UK) and myself (Australia) have been tossing around with the idea of creating some sort of a new operatives' network for Neurocam (Initially, I thought just Melbourne, but HELL, the whole world seems to be doing this, so let's do it globally!!). It would be something where we can all contribute what we have been experiencing, hearing and finding out about NC, so as to know a little bit more what to expect.

We could communicate about assignments conducted, etc etc etc. And make sure we stay in touch and see what develops.

I, personally don't know what to expect about my involvement with NC, and I don't even know how Jan 3rd is going to go but, hey, It would sound really interesting to me to know how everyone else went with it.

Any Ideas????
Please post any comments you may have about it here, or email myself: dettorifrank at yahoo.com or Sub-Xero: neverchain at yahoo.co.uk

totally agree with what dettori said, we need people, and im not just talkin about this forum either, i dont think that any single one of us can truely know whats to come, and NO ONE can say that they trust anyone else here, we have reason to believe neurocam reads this forum, and not to mention how many operatives could be involved, stringing us along like puppets, we will talk more on the outside, should you join us. e-mail me on sub-xero at excite.com, dettori already listed his.

[Edit - and again! Fi]

yes, ok so we can trust people, how about the people who claim to be in the dark just like we are, but seem to know more than they let on. thats exactly what we're talking about, all we want is for people to be able to post their experiences and views on neurocam freely where the moderators share an involvement. (i wont mention any names but i know of a couple potential neurocam lackies, nuf said.)

I still get suspicious when someone knocks at the door. Wink
Yeah, this sounds like a pretty good idea. Count me in.

Let's do it, then...

Now, I believe the first thing we should do is decide on a common way of communicating. I'm not particularly good at web design or even blogging, so I suggest some kind of a mailing list (which would also be a lot more private). let me know which way you guys would prefer...

a. Website
b. Blog
c. Online Forum
d. Mailing list
e. Other (specify)

umm... aren't we already communicating with a common medium...this forum? Is there a problem if we continue using it?

Communication

No, Colin. im sure there isn't a problem if we use this forum to communicate. But we need some other form of communicating that is a bit more private, and no so open to just anyone to read.

neurocam

I think we should do all of this out in the open. From what we know of existing operatives from before The Age article, those operatives who have put all of there experience in a blog have been having quite an experience. This does not preclude that there are no operatives who've been around as long as them who've had similar experiences and no blog, but I would bet that the bloggers have become the central players.

I've set up my own livejournal to document my experience publically, and I think a private listserv is silly.

[META]It's kind of "against the unspoken rules" to use forum chatter against a player. The forums are not to exist in games... so I don't know whether or not this "secondary medium of communication" is necessary. Do what you please, of course, but I kind of agree with Colin that there is no real need to go somewhere else... you can play as if you're a secret group, but chat it up here, and in the game, you're not really having communication with each other... I'm not trying to beat a dead horse any more than I have to here, but please tell me that someone understands what I'm saying here...[/META]

I don't think this is a normal game under any circumstances, nor do I think normal meta rules apply. These people have asked people do actually do things than could {at times} land them in trouble. With a normal ARG there is a basic safety net that at anytime "this IS just a game, I CAN quit" with Neurocam, it's REALLY not just a game anymore.

Personally, I opted out. I don't trust people enough to go into a car with strangers. Too many people try to get womyn alone in cars around here anyway, what's to keep some sickos outside of neurocam from hearing about what's going on and trying to abuse the situations? How would you know? I can't afford to go down that path. Obviously, you all can. I hope you are all of age {no one under 18 should be participating if for nothing else, you could get the Neurocam people in a LOT of trouble}.

Different thoughts:

This thing you are doing now, it's just to create a place for those who have been contacted and/or are going through stuff to discuss it, correct? A community, much like here? You are not hoping to be a new division right? I mean, they {supposedly} have an international division already. Do you think they {the neurocam people} will like this? I understand after the fact, people have posted their experiences in blog/journal form, but i thought that in the during you were to keep it to yourself. Perhaps i was quite mistaken.

Good luck, stay safe, have fun....
