Douglas gets subpoenaed

Dear Pam,
I guess you've heard by now. Douglas has been subpoenaed to appear
before the
Grand Jury. When he didn't come home for dinner yesterday, I called his
office
and Lorraine said she couldn't put me through because all hell was
breaking
loose. I could hear shouting in the background. Her voice got muffled
and she
whispered, "They've all been summoned." "Douglas, too?" I gasped and
she
replied, "Especially! Oh, Phyllis, this is bad." Then, she said she
couldn't
say more and quickly hung up.

He didn't come home until 11pm and, when he didn't come to our bedroom,
I found
him in his office on the phone. He gestured me out of the room, then
covered
the mouthpiece and barked, "Not now, Phyllis! Get out and shut the
door!" I
listened at the door but he was whispering and I couldn't hear a word.
This
morning when he wasn't in bed, I found him in his office, slumped over
his
desk. For a moment, I really had a scare then, I heard him snoring. I
haven't
awoken him yet. I don't know that I'm obligated to do so since he
hasn't told
me what's going on or if he needs to be anywhere today.

At some point, he will have to explain the situation to me, don't you
think? Oh
dear, I wonder if he's going to want me to go with him, to "stand by my
man." I
do believe I'm going to refuse!

More later,
Phyllis

More of the same....

Dear Barbara,
O yes, Douglas has been subpoenaed to appear before the Grand Jury. I
had to
hear this from Lorraine, the secretary at City Hall. He hasn't said a
word of
explanation to me! In fact, the only words he's spoken to me since
Saturday
were, "Not now, Phyllis! Get out and shut the door!" So, I don't
even "officially" know. I wonder how long he thinks he can go without
telling
me? How will he explain it all? I really can't wait to hear what he has
to say
in defense of himself. It should be highly entertaining. Oh, I think I
hear him
moving around upstairs now.

More later,
Phyllis

Email phyllis and that nasty insider person

My Dearest Sunny,

You have often said you were going to visit your mother but you never mentioned that she was gravely ill. I cannot believe that you have taken the time to comfort and advise me when you must be overcome with worry yourself. I wish there was something I could say to support you in your time of need. I only hope that my emails have given you some distraction, at least, and perhaps a laugh or two.

As you probably know by now, Douglas has been subpoenaed to appear before the Grand Jury. He hasn't said a word to me about it! So, I'm just going to sit smugly and pretend I don't know until he's forced to tell me. I suppose he's going to want to wear me like a charm bracelet when he goes to court and I think I'm going to refuse. Damn him! He's left me out of it and that's where I'm going to stay!

I really can't think about the red disc right now or Diana. I need to go to the bank today and find a divorce lawyer, don't you think? I need to get ready to break away when the time is right.

Oh, Patti came by yesterday and told me Wes Keeler is back in town. I was really relieved to hear that he's all right. Do you know that I got a nasty little email a week or so ago from some semi-literate accusing Mr. Keeler of stealing the manuscript page from me?! I did not believe it for a minute! He may be a flake but he is an honorable man. Of that, I am sure. Actually, with everything that's happened, I'm probably a bigger flake than he is. (ha, ha) Perhaps, I should go see him and compare notes on paranormal experiences. Please accept a big virtual hug from me and know that you and your mother will
be in my prayers.

Love,
Phyllis
