[OOG] Scientific American Did anyone else notice that the cover of this month's Scientific American is a picture of a giant cube with a keyhole in it? And then the article is about Quantum encryption, and uses cube and keyhole images to illustrate the article, too?

I know, I know, just a strange coincidence, but it made my heart skip a beat as I was walking past the magazine rack! (You know you've been on the perlex city boards too much when...)

I was watching ITV3 recently (UK TV channel for all you out of towners), and in each set of adverts a blue screen comes up with a revolving cube on it. The first time i saw it i did a bit of web searching, and came up with nothing, so kept watching. It came on a few more times, once it said "Hack Monday" over the top and another time it said a womans name then tuesday. Unfortunately the name escapes me. It's probably just ITV advertising a new programming schedule, but i'll keep an eye on it just n case.

I got a mood cube for Christmas. It changes colour every few minutes. After deep study I have come to terms with the fact that it is most definitely not the cube we are looking for.

How do you know?
What secrets are you keeping from us?
I received a calculator for christmas, and I'm incredibly suspicious about this 'cube root' button... anyone would know how we could decipher this?

Ah-ha! Maybe all we need to make sense of the mystery postcard number is a quantum computer. Easy peasy. Um, anyone got any time booked on one any time soon?
Seriously though, why did they have to pick such a popular shape? If we'd been looking for information about the XXXXX Dodecahedron it'd narrow our search down loads....
