UPDATE: Emails from Shana

I know you read this forum Shana, but it is important that others know what is happening, as I cannot be around all the time.

I responded (as I am sure many others did) to Shana's request for help in designing a "missing person's" poster for Ewan. (see http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1539

On Friday, we had some email correspondence (included below) and I sent her a rough draft of a poster ( ewan help 1.jpg attached ). My internet (and email connections over the weekend were non-existent, and so I have just sent her an update (ewan help 2.jpg attached) and am posting it all here.

My inital response:
Quote:
Hi,
I am reesylou, ones of those attempting to help/find you son. I would love to try and help you creating a poster.

For your records, I am in Australia. Normally, I wouldn’t just give out my contact details to someone I really do not know, but you have to admit this is a pretty exceptional situation.

Here I am:
<specific contact details removed>
Australia

Regards
Maree

Her reply:
Quote:
Bless you, dear. I've attached the picture with what I think is the clearest shot of his face, which admittedly isn't saying much. (I was never much for the beard.) Though I doubt he's made it to your neck of the woods, your poster could be distributed stateside and perhaps someone would recognize him and contact us. I've been thinking I should create some sort of webpage to direct people to from the poster, but in lieu of that for right now I'm thinking my email address and the URL of the forum where his friends are discussing his whereabouts will do nicely. Thank you again!

-shana

With an attachment of ewan01.jpg

I responded:
Quote:
Great. That is a nice photo.

Just to help little and make it look a little more professional, can you give me his full name, date of birth, height etc... and any identifying marks.

The start of our (at unforum) search for Ewan was a mysterious email with the subject "Will No One Help the Widow's Son?", and I think using that as the title of the poster will catch some attention. Do you have a problem with that?

If you have some content that you would like to put up on a web page, I have some (20 MB I think) web space that is not currently in use. Let me know.

I will work on the poster over the weekend (it is Friday here in Australia already) and try to get something to you before Monday.

Maree

And a fairly cryptic set of details were returned to me:
Quote:
Ewan Biru.
b. the second saturday of may
Height: approximately 5-10

Your title suggestion is thoroughly appropriate. My husband died soon after Ewan ran off.

Thank you for all of your help. Bless you.

-shana

The mail to which I attached my draft:
Quote:
Here is a first draft. What are your thoughts?

I am not totally happy yet with the picture and the title, so I will work on it a bit more over the weekend.

Maree

Her reply:
Quote:

I am impressed! Should you ever move to the States, I could definitely help you find a graphic design job; I know many others in the industry.

I begin to feel hopeful again.

-shana

And finally, my latest communication:
Quote:
Shana,

Sorry not to get back to you quicker - this weekend ended up being much busier than I had expected.

I have adjusted the poster a little, and I am much happier with the focus the new image shape provides.

Hope you like it.

Is there any reason you have not tried to contact Ewan directly? I mean you have recently found his livejournal and know where he is at the moment. Also, from the unfiction postings, you must know his email address.

If you do not feel you could contact him directly, would you object to us letting him know you are looking for him?

Regards,
Maree

Just sent, so awaiting comments - particularly regarding contacting Ewan directly.

And her response....
Quote:

No worries, dear. It was, it seems, a busy weekend for all of Ewan's friends. I must say I vascillate between hope and despair ever since finding you all; when things get done it is marvelous to behold, but there are such seeming lulls in activity between.

I love the latest revision of the poster. The image shape suits. Are you, by chance, a fan of the Cremaster cycle of films? I am in D.C. now, staying with my friend Judy (who also owns her own grafik marketing company) and I saw that the AFI Silver theater was showing the entire cycle a weekend or two ago. I'm sorry that Ewan missed it.

I have tried to email Ewan before, but he never responds. I suspect he deletes them as soon as they appear, or has some sort of filter to file them away in "Trash". Sometimes the emails bounce back. I haven't tried to email him at his current address, or any of the last few which I tracked down of his. Feel free to let him know that his mother is looking for him; perhaps it would be more palatable coming from friends.

-shana

Sounds like there is some "history" here.
Shana... why is Ewan avoiding you? He doesn't mention your prior contacts in his notes.

Ewan ran away. I don't know why. I don't know why he wishes to be free of me.

I only have speculation, endless speculation. I think he's asserting his independence. I think he wants to prove to himself that he can survive on his own. Or maybe he's just running from something and has forgotten me. I don't know.

Rees,

Shouldn't you add that he was "institutionalized" at Klepsydra. Heph(?) escaped from there and if Heph sees your fliers, he may be able to help.

Also, can anyone translate this page from Ewan? It's going way to fast for me.
