Earlier this evening in CD #ctw chat, just after the AIM chat with Dale and Wes, RPGgame reported receiving an IM from Insider12 containing this web address:

http://indigo.org/webcam/

Upon loading that site, the following message was displayed on the screen:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
valas somone not
tell you about
conversation = ask bar
Insider

I'm still not sure what to make of this Insider, but he/she/it has found many ways to communicate.

Insider stayed after the chat and said the same thing to Valas. Here is the copy:

The Insider12 (9:48:16 PM): Valas someone not tell you about conversation = ask bar
ValasAzuviir (9:50:18 PM): could you rephrase that into regular english??
The Insider12 (9:50:31 PM): ASK BAR

We checked the previous emails from Insider to Angie:

dear missy angie lady i knoe yu gud lady mean no harm yu watch yur famly yu watch yur frends are not wat the reflection yu see yu want knoe mor i hep yu email take care watch self may be danger for yu NO EMPTY THREAT

dear missy angie lady i knoe yu gud lady mean no harm yu watch yur famly yu watch yur frends are not wat the reflection yu see yu want knoe mor i hep yu take care watch self may be danger for yu NO EMPTY THREAT

Magesteff came up with Empty Threats = BAR that Insider is talking about.
And Empty Threat is in caps in the emails to Angie.

I suggest that this thread is either locked or deleted completely.
This has NOTHING to do with the game.
This is not an in-game character. Merely a troll trying to ruin the game for everyone else.

I was already notified about his discussion with Barberellany, and steps have been taken to deal with this miscreant. The less time you waste on him, the better.

What I'm concerned with is the way it uses language, and that Angie (an in-game character) felt strongly enough to pass on its post. Troll, yes, I agree as such should not be used as a source for information. I'm a bit worried that if it feels we are not taking it seriously it will escalate what it does. I noticed that it did not speak while Dale and Wes were on - it waited until they (and a good bit of others) had left the chat.

That was just a way for the PMs to warn us, that we had a complete brainless twit on our hands, who was passing sensitive information to every in-game character that s/he was e-mailing.

I'll fill you in on the rest by way of Private Message.

It appears that whatever we do the Insider has more control of the situation than he is supposed to. The key is figuring out what the Insider wants the sooner we figure that out the sooner that the Insider will disappear. Will the PMs make a statement against the Insider? IF the PMs do that maybe the Insider will stop. It seems he has asked

If the PMs make an announcement against what is taking place than this might end and that will answer the question the Insider has.

If the PM's make an announcement about a rogue player then that's Parting the Curtain. That's not going to happen at this point in the game. Insider has no control whatsoever. Period. End of problem. It got its 15 minutes of attention and that's all it gets. Any sympathy insider might have been building has, for me, been blown by the info that it ratted Wes to Phyllis. Insider can continue doing whatever it does and in no way will it ever effect the unfolding of the game. It didn't mess up Heather's relationship with Bruce and it didn't alter Phyllis' respect for Wes. Whatever the insider wants, he's not going to get it. If it can't play with us then it's out there being stupid. That's the end of it as far as I'm concerned.

[RANT] Insider ... Outsider. Whatever....

I will warn you now that this is a rant, read this at your own discression, these are my opinions, do not reflect anything to do with any real life situations, this is my stand in the back yard and yell
"AAAAAAHHHHHHRRRRGGGGGG." You have been cautioned.

If this "insider" gets too disruptive the PM will simply drop the person out of the game. Which means it won't matter what it sends out. If this insider lifts my messages off a bbs, and sends it to an in-game person that I did not intend it to go to, without my knowledge, I will be going to the PM's and express my displeasure briefly and to the point. If that doesn't work, I then go to AOL and push "terms of service" buttons. I won't be hashing it out here, I won't be spamming, I won't be crying over things that are beyond my control, because I am an adult, and while I like to have childish fun, that doesn't mean I go around throwing temper tantrums.

However I don't like the idea of it sharing knowledge that is not one's to share... i.e. if you didn't receive the message yourself, you can't "forward" it to an in-game person without the express permission of the original recipient... the message is being shared for the purpose of solving the clues, not for someone to play "mole." Nor do I think, as has been spec'd by others that the PM's asked it to be a mole. If they want to know what we are thinking, they can check here... or CD, or Yahoo... and there are plenty of "off camera" in-game ppl to be "mole" is the PM's need one. We have talked about "hacking" Bruce's login, what would stop Bruce from hacking Dale's login? Not that this will happen, I'm just saying it doesn't take one of us to do it.

I noticed during the last chat with Dale and Wes... Insider stayed very quiet the whole time... Why? Because as In-game Characters, Wes and Dale can contradict anything it says that isn't "game truth." It waited until they had left, and waited until most of the ppl had left, because more ppl mean more likely that someone will be able to shoot it down with truth. When you stand and look a Bully in the eye, it backs down and goes and complains to someone else. Now if it were a case of someone who doesn't speak english very well, most of the non-speakers I have met tell you that up front. But this isn't the case here... This is just a bully who thinks it can push its weight around... well, I have to tell you when it comes to pushing one's weight around I have more than most of you put together, it won't be able to move me.

OK I think I'm done on this now.

Insider

I agree with sjct on this subject. The Insider can't change anything. If the PMs
want to use him/her they will. If they don't want to use the Insider then the characters
will stop mentioning him/her. When the PMs stop acknowleding the Insider's emails
then the Insider will go away. So far this person hasn't done anything more disruptive
than emailing characters with info some of us thought shouldn't be revealed but we
aren't the bosses of this game and the Insider seems to be useful to the PMs. I guess
I don't understand the hostility.
