Be notified the moment a game launches!

We've updated the ARGN game announcement list to a new system. This new one is very robust, more secure, and easy to subscribe/unsubscribe to, as opposed to the old Topica system.

Feel free to stop by and subscribe if you want to be immediately notified of important ARG happenings and launches. This is a very low traffic list, dedicated to only MAJOR Alternate Reality Gaming events, such as games going live, etc.

I just tried subscribing to the mailing list and got an error that I needed to log in from Subscribe2Me. Since I'm already logged in to unfiction, I assume it is something else. Any help here?

The ARGN Announc list is currently unavailable while we upgrade to a more robust system.

I'll post here when we're all up and running.

Apparently not. I just entered the email from my previous subscription and it told me I was already subscribed.

Hi, and welcome! Glad you found us. Very Happy

At this point, I'd recommend Art of the Heist. I'm not personally playing it, just watching, but I've been extremely impressed generally and at one point had my socks knocked off. There have been some very cool live events -- if one is held in your area, go. The game is being put on by Audi.

Perplex City has been looking very interesting, but we're not sure when, if ever, it's going to start, so...

There have been some very good grassroots games, but one caveat: there is no guarantee that a grassroots game will finish -- indeed, lately it has seemed to be even odds as to whether a grassroots game will have a meltdown. So, keep that caveat in mind when selecting a game. There's no guarantee, to be fair, that a corporate game, or one of the games by one of the experienced grassroots PM teams, will finish, but with one exception they always have, and have maintained a consistent level of quality.

So again, I'd recommend Art of the Heist.

Whichever game you choose, welcome to the community and best wishes for a wonderful first ARG experience! Smile

FYI, Your Mileage May Vary with the ARGN alert emails. You really can't rely on those for your only source of ARG updates; the only alert in the past two months has been an ad for a Lost-themed timewaster, despite this being one of the busiest ARG seasons in recent memory.

If you want to stay as up-to-the-minute as possible, I'd recommend daily monitoring of the Unfiction "News & Rumors" section, ARGTalk.com's Changes page, IU's "New Games" section, and of course the IRC channels #unfiction and #metaunlimited hosted at irc.chat-solutions.org.

Who knows -- if you put your info into your profile and hang around the channels enough, you might even get a trailhead or two dropped at your feet. The more involved you are in the community, the better the chances of being one of the first to know, so my best advice would be to jump in with both feet and enjoy the ride!
