sorry, i kinda lost you. where from? Smile the e numbers page? i think i can do it, but... okay, we'll see. nod if you meant the e-numbers. Wink

if you were replying to me, I meant from the link posted above showing the first 2 million digits of e. It's split into line by line, instead of one long string of digits, so doing a text search wouldn't be conclusive because the string you search for may be split between lines.

If you weren't replying to me, then I digress Razz

thebruce: i was. Wink thanks for making it clear, i'll see what i can do.

i don't tknow where that 'small letters on buliding' picture would have to go, i posted stuff about the same picture in the "indexB picture" topic. anyway, those letters are very small. it's hard to read, really, i couldn't figure it out. zooming into it just made it worse. [hurray for pixels! Smile ]

Binary Code?

Hi folks!

Being completely new to this (found this site just yesterday), I had to read a lot of stuff. And I tried something, which lead to exactly nowhere, but anyway:

Taking the number from the postcard and interpreting it as a binary code, it disassembles to:

and dl, [di]
inc bp
dec ax
dec ax
dec ax
inc si
push cx
add [bx+si+32h], dl
; ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
db 15h ;

Well. Doesn't make any sense, does it? Wink

Being someone who just finished a course in Assembly...

without knowing most of the register values... there's not much that can be done with that - or... are you saying you made that code to represent the number???

how did you get those? i also disassambled that number to binary, and then checked the ascii decimal and hex values, but found nothing. ???

anyway, i've done the e-thing that thebruce asked me to, there was a small problem, and that is that files have a maximum linelength... anyway, the lines are much-much longer then thex were. Wink but here's the code [php] i used and the numbers in one zip:
e_numbers.zip
Description
zip

 Download
Filename  e_numbers.zip
Filesize  1.83MB
Downloaded  220 Time(s)

Disassembly

I saw the number (221545484848465100503215) and thought that might be a representation of machine code:

22 15 45 48 48 48 46 51 00 50 32 15

Then I took a simple hex editor and created a file containing these values which resulted in a string

"EHHHFQ

I saved that file and ran an analysis with IDA Pro Freeware - letting it assume it was an MS-DOS binary file - which resulted in the code above.

Anyway... it's interesting, but useless Wink

Re: Disassembly

my result was:

"[nak]EHHFQ[nul]P2[nak]

which REALLY doesn't make ANY sense. Smile

if using unicode instead of ASCII, the result was 䡅䡈兆倀ᔲ [if you only see questionmarks, then they are chinese / japanese characters, dunno which]. still, i don't think that this'd be IT.

Kanjis

Googling for both characters (兆倀), I found two pictures:

http://www.leading.net.cn/lzr/ShowDocImg.asp?ID=136

and

http://www.chinalamp.com/showpic.aspx?picid=310

Which is actually not a funny thing at all, since both characters appear to be part of the image sources. Nothing unusual...

i'm going nuts.

Well - am I the only one who is finding all of the "This seems useless" and "well, that's nothing important" kind of... disturbing.

In my experience with args (as narrow and short as it may be) - everything is important at one point or another.

It could be a passcode for later - possibly another mini puzzle site like the http://www.perplexcity.com/tmp/httpd/errorlog/ mini sites....

is there anyway we can actually see what the pics are..., the second page your link refers to should be a jpeg image called "ducky", however, when I try to copy and paste the text of the page into another text file using either wordpad/notepad, or word, all i get is 4 characters and nothing else.

"JFIFddDucky2Adobed"
that bit of the page suggests that it is a jpeg image with the name Ducky2 created by one of the Adobe photo editing programs...

the problem is thought that i cannot copy and past the whole thing at one time.
