Poster

People at the chat room told me to scan this in and post it, so I am. I don't think I or my friends will play though because this doesn't seem like the type of game that we are interested in. Sorry.

Heres the poster we got slipped under our door:

Looking over this, the moves listed backwards are:

White bishop takes knight: G5 x F6, or Bg5 x Nf6

Black king takes none: E8 - D8, or E8 - F8 or Ke8 - d8 or Ke8 - f8

White knight takes pawn: B4 x E6, or Nb4 x e6

There's two different common chess notations, so I included both. As far as I can see, there is no readily available checkmate as a result of these moves. Furthermore, unless I'm stupidly missing something, it's unlikely that these moves would play out in a real game, since black ignores the threat presented by the white bishop, when he could easily capture it with his bishop.

Another possibility that occurs to me is that this board set up is transcribed from a famous chess match. Matches between Grandmasters are usually copied and studied afterwards, so it wouldn't be unusual. If this is the case, then pertinent information may include: how many moves into the game it is, what move occurs next, the location where the match took place, and the names of the players.

Hey all,
I'm a newbie (first ARG, actually) but I feel that I have a pretty good handle on what's going on so far.
in terms of the flyer, there was some talk tonight in the chatroom about the possible significance of black and white. as the text of the chess moves are written backward, could that imply that Rainman is white and WI black, counterintuitively? or does the backwards text mean we should we play the game backwards to discover something new?

so we assume (maybe) that the black king has castled to G8, the white knight is on 6e and bishop is on 6f. if the king has castled away from danger, the black queen, bishop and a pawn are in danger. is this someone's battle-plan?
