Both storylines seem entirely plausible but I get a slightly different notion of where here and there are.

The impression I get of the world of the academy is more of one parallel to our own rather than another planet or anything too alien. I think that the references to London add a bit of weight to this flimsy hypothesis. The academy is in parallel London (which has similar problems to Oxford...too many tourists and old buildings...perfect setting!). The cube is powerful enough to be a danger to both universes, hence the warning from Sente. Although that means that two things can affect this universe...the cube and whatever Sente is using to communicate with us.

Initially I was thinking they were the same thing until I remembered that they've lost the cube !

Something I've seen someone else mention (can't remember where, sorry) is the possibility that Sente's contact is from the future which seems to ring true...retro shoes anyone?.

there is a chance its a parallel universe.
But then, what is alpha centauri? its so far away, and you know what hapens when you get a wormhole involved, being a planet 2 billion lightyears away it could even be a mirrored earth. So infact it could be both... now theres a spec.

Don't start measuring in light. If time becomes distance and distance becomes time, this forum is in for a whole world, parallel or not, of trouble.

The wormhole is actually the only theory that would link up to alpha centauri. If we relied on the messages arriving by normal (known) means then we might as well give up because civilisation destroyed itself on sentes world thousands of years ago and we cannot reply to any information we receive anyway.

I really think that S. Marchant and Sente are different people.

We know that Sente is currently in a position of great authority. He talks in a fluid, educated and articulate way.

S. Marchant seems like someone who has gone mad.

I think that S. Marchant seems more like someone from The Cube's history, like someone who went mad trying to find or steal it. I don't think his story would have been confined to the archives if he was a current character.

If S. Marchant is from the Cube's history and he is Sente (ie the leader) then you would expect to see his name on the Logo like Zeller and Taversen.

I recon S. Marchant was someone who opposed the academy when it was first being set up.

I mean, if your name was Sente Marchant, would you sign a letter to total strangers from another planet with your first name? Sente must only have one name, Morpheus-stylee.
