Ursulla,

Yes, after all of the rain lately, it looks like we'll be able to swing into
high gear for the summer, finally!

I'm happy to answer any questions about the park you may have.

Yeah, say we have heard a lot about the fortune teller, Digitalis. Will he be back at the park this season, and is there a way to contact him directly?

Dear Pam,

Our fortune teller, Digitalis, has been a staple here for years. He is
here
every day the park is open. As far as I know though, his readings are,
well,
for entertainment purposes only. Smile

I'm pretty sure he doesn't do reading by email, as I'd be totally
surprised if
he even has a computer.

As far as the carousel goes, yes you're right. It is very special, in
my
opinion, but that's probably because of the very personal fond memories
I have
there.

Hope you can visit us soon!

Agp

I watched a new series on showtime last nite called
Dead Like Me... a series about how a teenager becomes a grim reaper.
One of the souls she had to reap was a little girl. When the time came for her to take her soul they were out in the middle of the woods. When the little girl left her body, guess what appeared out of a vortex in the sky. Why an amusement park of course! In this story though they said the park was only meant for the little girl and the Reapers could not follow her. Just a little aside here. I thought it was pretty serendipitus.

So I looked up what a banshee is

What is a Banshee?

The Banshee - Gaelic form: ben sid.

In Irish folklore, the Banshee is seen as both faerie and ghost. As a faerie, she is used in stories to warn children of the dangers of being out alone. They would be told, "the wind through the trees in the winter forest is the banshee." Essentially, she is the one blamed for the things that howl and go bump in the night. She is also what is called a sidh faerie, meaning she derives herself from the faerie mound, closely relating her to the playful puca and other notable entities of the mound.

In ghost lore, she is the apparition attached to ancient Irish families who forewarns the death of a family member. However, the Banshees revolted against the people and united. This unification resulted in their wailing before any of the Irish people died. She wails at their birth place and within the hour, they are no more.

In mythology, she is closely related to Macha, the horse goddess. She eventually became associated with justice and revenge. The Banshee can also be related to Aine, the goddess of the sea, and equivalent to the Greek goddess Diana. The banshee, in essence, is a fallen goddess.

Agp Carousel

did a little research on carousel mythology and at this point the only thing that I can come up with so far "Something Wicked This Way Comes"By Ray Bradbury

About two boys on the edge of childhood who are promised a free lightning rod by a salesman because a storm is coming and the lightning is going to hit one of the houses. (Remember in the trailer of the game it featured a lighting rod with a horse on it) That nite at 3am a carnival comes to town and seems to mysteriously build itself. The boys are offered a ride on the carousel. They hide in a tree and watch as a man rides on the carousel backwards, I think 28 times, and then he turns into a boy of 12 again.
So the carousel is able to manipulate time.
Shocked
This was also made into a movie as well.
In this story Evil is what holds sway over the town.

But that is not necessarily the case at Aglaura.

Dear Pam,

As far as I know, Digitalis doesn't have a computer, at least I'd be
really
surprised if he did. He's a very 'timeless' sort of guy, and I don't
think he
has much need for modern technology, lol. He is here every day the park
is
open, however, so he's easy to find that way.

As for the Magic Carousel, it's special to me as my wife and I fell in
love
while riding it, when we were teenagers. We were riding together in the
chariot and that's when we both knew.

Hearing the music wafting through my window all day is certainly a side
benefit of working here. It's brings back very fond memories of my
wife, which
is really nice.

Our carousel is very special to many people, but that's the only
firsthand
story I can tell you. Smile

As for now, I need to go, as it's pretty busy here today.

Sincerely,

He is really skirting the issues. He just ignores most of my questions or he really doesn't know when they "go". I guess I haven't asked the right one yet.

Ursulla,

Oh, I see what you're getting at. The problems we've been having with our
website and our webhosting company, again. Over the last 6-8 weeks we've been
having troubles with server crashes, along with files and domains getting
mixed up. This resulted in our website sometimes not being accessible. Is this
what you mean?

I can assure you, we haven't gone anywhere. I have the paystubs to prove
it. Smile We certainly haven't become a cemetery, except for when we have our
Halloween Haunt in October.

If you come visit, you'll see. We're real. You can touch stuff and everything.

Sincerely,

PS-I'm not really making fun of you, it's just that your questions just seem a
little odd, you must admit. Smile

Pam,

Yes indeed my wife was the love of my life. I hope you don't
misunderstand,
but let me just say that yes, I lost her a short while ago, and leave
it at
that. I have lots of friends and family who are here to support me, but
thank
you for your concern.

Thanks for the trivia about carousels. I had no idea as to the roots of
the
word, or the bit about the lead horse. I'll have to check into whether
our
carousel has one. I think we have some pictures of our Magic Carousel
around
somewhere. I need to get on it and post some of those, as I just
realized
there's nothing on the website right now.

Hmm. Strange because there is a picture titled "Magic Carousel" here. In the source code, the picture is "carouselbrightsm.jpg".

Pam,

Thanks for your kind words. It gets easier every day. Smile

As far as our Magic Carousel goes, no, it doesn't have a brass ring
machine.
There aren't that many that do any more, that I'm aware of. The only
one I
know of for sure that has one is the Looff carousel at the Boardwalk in
Santa
Cruz, although the rings are steel now.

Well, gotta get back to work.

Ash Grove Park, Castle Ash Grove

Per TAP CAROL Answer:
Quote:
Do you mean Castle Ash Grove? Castle Ash Grove is an ancient Elfin realm in a hidden spot in Wales. The castles inhabitants can supposedly make it vanish and reappear. According to Sylvia Townsend Warner, the Queen of the Castle is always called Morgan

Could you please ask Brent if there is someone who holds the possition of "Queen" at the park and what her name is?

Or have Dale and Wes go look for her?

Could be Morgan Le Fey, who is the queen of fairies in King Arthurs time.

Pam,

Thanks for the heads up on the Chest of Jewels. I'll forward that to
the vendor
who supplies the games, and see if they can get it fixed right away.

Yeah, I knew that about the love seat thing. Phoebe and I used to
always talk
about it, as it seemed so appropriate in our case. Smile

You know, it's funny, but I have no idea what songs the carousel plays.
I know
a couple songs are Turkey in the Straw and Oh Susanna, but that's all
I'd be
able to name off the top of my head. My little girl may know some more,
as she
could ride that thing all day long, lol.

Anyway, hopefully you'll be able to visit us soon and hear it for
yourself.
We're open every day through the summer!
