echo

Oh dear
looks like people are finally flipping.
So what was it that finally broke the dam.
Endless specultion about endless numbers?
Arguing the differences about 0.9recurring and 1?
A scribbled maze on a postcard or was it just a series of psychologically deficient sociopaths who were just waiting for the trigger to appear?

Answers on a postcard please....

Is the postal code an IP address?

I swear I remember seeing something about this before, but searching didn't turn up anything and the Wiki doesn't have it listed so... Is it possible the postcard code is just an IP address encoded somehow? There are a zillion ways to encode an IP address in a long string of numbers, but I did try a few without success:

Here's the number in pairs:

22 15 45 48 48 48 46 51 00 50 32 15

If you split the number into rows and columns of 4x3 or 3x4 and sum the pairs you get:

Code:

22 +15 +45 = 82
48 +48 +48 = 144
46 +51 +00 = 97
50 +32 +15 = 97
=   =   =
166 146 108

22 +15 +45 +48 = 130
48 +48 +46 +51 = 193
00 +50 +32 +15 = 97
=   =   =   =
70  113 123 114

If you take the row/column of 4 you get:
82.144.97.97
70.113.123.114

If you try to do something fancy and incorporate the 2210 by assuming each digit is telling you one of the parts of the IP address and that 0 is the first row/column and 2 is the 3rd you can use the row/column of 3 and get:
108.108.146.166
97.97.193.130

Or 4:
97.97.144.82
123.123.113.70

and then of course you can reverse the tuples kind of like the www.perplexcity.com is reversed:
97.97.144.82
114.123.113.70
166.146.108.108
130.193.97.97
82.144.97.97 (duplicate)
70.113.123.123

None of the above work, but who knows, maybe this will inspire someone else... Heck, maybe cracking this code will start the game Smile

Then again, it's probably more likely that they're watching all this and taking notes about how we try to crack it, as someone else said. I still say that would be evil. EVIL! Wink

Maybe it has something to do with IP address...?
well, in any case..here the ip address of www.perplexcity.com...
>> 216.92.193.157
maybe if you try to flip it backward, or do some kind of transformations or add other numbers to it you might get something...

i dunno...

indeed. as you showed yourself there are numerous ways of translating those numbers into would-be ip numbers. i am tempted to say there are infinite ways, but we all know what happens when i do that, so let me just say that without any more information, i think it will be nearly impossible to find something useful....

IMHO that recurrent 48 is too much of a coincidence to mean we need to mess about with the numbers overmuch - I'm still sure this is some kind of cypher and we just have to work out the key.

Anyone think of any numerical bits from early doors which may have been left lying about for us to use?

By the way, it strikes me that this is the most polite group of people I have ever had the fortune to swap txt with - not a **** in sight! Very Happy

Number on postcard.

Okay going mad trying to discover any message in this number but think I've finally got it.

Dividing this number into pairs gives us the following.

22 15 45 48 48 48 46 51 00 50 32 15

Of these only 46 cannot be scored in one dart on a matchplay board!

Sente is crap at Darts, eureka.

Right pass me some white y fronts and two pencils, I'm getting out of here.
Wibble.
