"all the Latin I assumed to be meaningless turned out to have a purpose after all"

would never have thought "confer" meant "to compare"

and yes, this makes sense - so again well done for spotting this

... the next bit gets boring & repetitive so feel free to skip the rest of this post and go onto the next one (... but one of my SPECS may turn out to have some import!)

the repetitive bit:-

Quote:
2/4 to 1/4 April Fool's Day
6/7 to 4/7 Independence Day

8/7 Bazookas link added to both caches

11/8 to 13/8 Friday Thirteenth

13/8 to 14/8 FR link added to BOTH caches

29/8 to 27/8 ?
23/10 to 31/10 Halloween
21/12 Winter solstice

"compare" the "difference"

differences as above (if we don't count spelling discrepancies)

apart from some of dates being significant "satanic calendar" ones - there is also the Bazookas additonal entry AND 13/8 to 14/8 when the friends reunited link was added....

this entry mentions the Book of Star, which in Jon's last entry he says he has obtained and is written in code

think this is the next puzzle for us to solve - to decipher the book

so also think that entry (13/8 or 14/Cool is Very Significant

(NB - previewed this post before posting and I didn't put the "cool" emoticon in place of "8" for "14/8" above and can't get rid of it!!!! very strange)

In that entry Jon says:-

"It seems to me that this book is the key" (my italics)

some people have discussed another key earlier on the game - the church key

the "church key" or the "bottle opener" as us Brits say, is a "link" on the Hiding Room site, but as yet no-one has found a way to do anything with this - but maybe there IS a specific reason why it's there

..... hmm this isn't going anywhere is it?

may have to resort to changing song lyrics again Razz

posted in book of star thread as well

Hey
alcofribas post made me hit on something

I had trouble doing a proper search on it so smack me if this is old

if you compare the dates:

2/4 to 1/4 April Fool's Day
6/7 to 4/7 Independence Day
8/7 Bazookas link added to both caches
11/8 to 13/8 Friday Thirteenth
13/8 to 14/8 FR link added to BOTH caches
29/8 to 27/8 ?
23/10 to 31/10 Halloween
21/12 Winter solstice

and the number of days that change
you get

128212821

that seems like a strangely repetitive number to be pure chance....
however, as with everything else I've no clue where to use it

both Frzndaqiri and I missed this post by Senath on 12 Jan, so sorry Senath

Random, probably incidental thing that I noticed: if you take the difference between each of the updated dates (e.g. 2/4 to 1/4 is 1, 21/12 would be 21) and put them together in order, you get the following palindrome number: 128212821 . As to it's significance, I'm not sure, but if nothing else, it's an interesting coincidence.

great minds.......

First Post

My first ever ARG post, so preparing for shoal of trout to come my way, but...

...couldn't find reference elsewhere (even after using SEARCH!) to the new 'JH' reference on the newspage of the band linked to in the cache. I know JH was mentioned in the link, but I don't think he was originally mentioned on their newspage.

Relevant? Out of game and best ignored?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Relatively new at this but I recall reading in the other thread that the Mezzanine Door (spelling?) needed some number sequence as part of the password. (they guessed that the password was after JH's fav football team)

Maybe 128212821 is the number sequence? or PART of the number is in the sequence? Someone who has more time than I do should try it out.

Just throwing out an idea before I start lurking again...

November?

I went back to Jon's cache today and for some reason it wouldn't let me open November! I don't know if I just never caught that before or what...but it's strange! Has anyone noticed this?

Check http://deaddrop.us/wiki/index.php/HR.com:_The_Cache to read the complete cache. November never excisted, and probably never will... So it's not strange you couldn't open November!

Personally I think the journal is not going to be updated anymore, since Jon "doesn't expect to update this blog again", mentioned in the journal on 21st December.

Good luck * Janis[/url]
