Fall damage is present in Single Player (just try exiting a Banshee in midair to board another and missing).
It was removed from MP because when someone with a sword would lunge to a lower height to attack, they would hit the ground so hard that the fall damage would kill them. This was talked about a little in a Weekly What's Update.

Apparently, they were going to include something like this back in Halo 1, where you could play custom soundtracks in the Warthog. But I guess time and practicality got in the way. Stupid time and practicality.
As for my wishlist, one word:
Closure

Consistency. From the "canon" books to the "canon" gameplay, let alone the "non-canon" (but better scripted) ILB story.
AKA:
-MC's order from top brass to NEVER kill a prophet under any circumstances.
-The reason for following Regret = "find out why he came to Earth", then after finding out that he was going to activate Halo, killing him because "he's told us all we need to know" ????? ???? Wha? hey, remember Earth anybody???
-Mjolnir armor (w/out shields) being able to handle small weapons fire w/out any problem whatsoever.
-No fall damage anytime (seeing as how Spartans can survive an orbital drop just fine in the books).
-Consistency in gameplay. Not the network speed deciding whose actions happen first, or shotguns being totally unreliable in how much damage they cause, or melees being great sometimes and useless other times, etc, etc, etc. Basically all the code problems that allowed for all the glitches being exploited now.
I can understand why some things needed to be put in for gameplay (like taking damage from small arms fire), but I really wish they could just stay consistent with their story, and with their previous game engine (you know the one that produced the same result from the same actions every time )

I would hardly say that the orbital drop in the book turned out just fine for them. There wasn't a single one that didn't sustain serious injury. And as far as scripted falls, it seems they were consistent when
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
MC drops from Cairo Station, plants the bomb on the Covie ship, and then falls on top of In Amber Clad.
He seemed to survive that just fine.

The network speed thing is just a reality of gameplay. That wasn't something intentional that Bungie did, nor does it seem that they can do anything about it. And as far as the shottie and melee issues, those may not be as consistent, but they are far more realistic. A shotgun isn't going to have the same shot pattern every time you fire it, and so is going to do more damage sometimes and less others. Consistency might suffer when a game gets slightly closer to reality, but I think that's a fair trade.

Oh, Bungie didn't tell you? Closure is the name of the prophet you go after in Halo 3.

in the beta of halo 2 they did have a radio in the hog that you could listen to custom soundtracks on-they took it out though, because it lagged the game something fierce. And that wasn't even network play, either-that would've been harsh.

No, the decision to go to a server-server-"head"server model vs a server-client model is what causes most of the inconsistencies and network speed problems. It's also what reduces the amount of lag greatly and allows for the dynamic hosting capability, but in my mind is not worth the trade-off. So, yes, it was something intentional that Bungie did by choosing this model of network gameplay vs the one currently in use by nearly all other network games.

Yes, but having a melee to the back of someone's head and a point-blank shotgun blast to their gut kill them sometimes and not others is not reality, that's jsut bad coding. And mostly comes from the afore-mentioned networking decision.

Closure would be nice. I would be very surprised if they didn't do a Halo 3. MC goes to Earth, offs the Prophet and their Brute lackeys, the Elites we now have sympathy for after playing as them and watching them get screwed over in H2 and the other remaining Covenant join up with humanity to stop the Flood and their floating city. The Flood get blowed up, and without the prophets around the humans are accepted into the covenant and peace ensues, everyone lives happily ever after. And then Durga gets Jersey's dad home. Oh yeah, and Kelly comes back from her wacky deep-space adventure with the key to stopping the Flood, if they decide to follow the books at all.
Seems pretty straightforward to me and, like I said, I'll be surprised if they don't do another game to close the story.

I am also disappointed that the friends list in H2 doesn't have 'page up' and 'page down' functionality. And that you have to go searching through all your lists to find who it was who just sent you a message. Why not create a fourth 'inbox' list that shows all those who've sent you a message? Or just put the message folks at the top of the list?

New messages do go to the top, I think... I know for sure that players online do stay on the top, and most of the time my messages are on the first or 2nd screen.
Hmm.

When your friends list
exceeds a certain length
is full, looking for new messages is a total bear.
Sigh.

Is that him taking over, on your avatar??
Yes, the whole friend's list is too simple. It works fine in the beggining, but when you start to add friends from work, beekeepers, friends from other games, etc, it becomes a pain! Specially when you come back after a long absence and don't remember how you met a substantial number of people on your friend's list!
