"The Sun reached its lowest point at the Winter Solstice on December 21, the start of Capricorn, and from there began its ascent back from the underworld. The re-emergence of the Sun from its dark night of the soul corresponds to the myth of Persephone's release by Hades from the underworld to rejoin her mother above."

Pathwaytravel has, as "other destinations", the Thannhauser Gate. AFAIK only mentioned in Blade Runner (I watched C-Beams glitter in the dark near Thannhauser Gate)

I found a page which contains an episode of Dungeons & Dragons about the Tannhauser Gate..

When i saw it, it just reminded me to a passage in Jon's Cache where he said that "the best 80s cartoonserie (with exception of transformers)" was released on dvd...

Most definetly out of game because it's just fanfiction and not even completed (yet). Probably just coincidence.. but just to be sure... here's the link: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2008992/1/

Does anyone know if there are any other places on the in-game sites apart from "Sable & Shuck celebrate anniversary" where the aleph symbol appears? although both the aleph and the word "stellar" appear in same place this doesn't seem to have an signifance here, but if the aleph appears somewhere else together with a star reference it might be significant

I just had an idea, albeit a slightly far-fetched one. I was just snooping around the hiding room, and clicked on the apple/church key on the bar in the kitchen.

Take a look at the surface of the bar. Looks like marble at first glance, but then I got to thinking...what if it were a star map?

Take a look, tell me what you think? Maybe it will come into play with this or a future puzzle (or maybe I'm just wishing there was something at all useful in the kitchen)?

[EDIT] ....found it

References have been made in regards to the "Space" between the apple and the bottle opener. The space between does look like a bunch of constalations...Has anyone else looked into the specs in reference to star constalations? Perhaps this game is just making me crazy...

- the consensus of opinion was that it was just the pattern in the worksurface - didn't stop me clicking over every square inch of surface in case I got a link like we did with Jon's eye...

couldn't find anything tho

still harping on about the relevance of "Aquarius" - I think it may be important coz from the friends reunited site we know Jon is into astrology

but a link which is probably totally irrelevant

http://66.102.9.104/search?sourceid=navclient-menuext&q=cache:http%3A//thelemicmusick.net/spheres/

again both "star" (Aquarius) and "aleph" (Uranus) mentioned together

.....plus some musical notes associated with these 2 symbols

(thinking along the lines of getting past cerberus)

THE BLUE TOPAZ

yet another probably "way off mark" spec

The Blue Topaz / SUNODEA
... star & aleph appear together again in a Banishing Ritual - might be a good thing to get rid of TMIB

Quote:
.... this path, combined with the paths of the Fool and the Magician, forms the Runic letter Tir, which means 'the Star'. Perhaps, for the word SUNODEA can be broken down as follows: SUN, the sun, illumination; OD, the Odic force or secret light; E: Heh, the Star; A: Aleph, the Fool; to be read, 'the fool illuminated by the secret light of the star'.

One final note: after completing this analysis, the first comment I received was that SUNODEA spelled backwards is AEDONUS, relating it to ADONAI and the Holy Guardian Angel.

and the actual ritual itself......

the aleph meets the star also in the temple of Salomo, where the "ark des verbonds" was! "In het midden van de wand, dus tegen het zwarte gordijn, en op ongeveer drie meter hoogte, is aangebracht een transparant, die bevat de slang, die in zijn staart bijt, waarbinnen een negenpuntige ster, bestaande uit drie driehoeken, met in het midden de letter Aleph en in de punten der driehoeken de hebreeuwse beginletters van de overige 9 Heilige Namen."

in english: in the middle of the temple of Salomo, where the arc rested, at a wall against a black curtain, there was a transparent with a snake that bites is own tale. in this circle, there was a ninepoint star, made of three triangels. within this star, there was the symbol aleph.

http://www.stelling.nl/vrijmetselarij/ovoo_r4nieuw.html (fig. 3)

De ninepointed star with the three triangels has all the first letters of the ten holy names, that all refer to a certain face of Him Who's True And Full Name is not speakable, and what name, according to the laws of Mozes, may never be spoken then only once a year by the highest priest.

in the middle the Aleph. it refers to the name Eheieh, also known as the first Sephira, de crown of Kether on the Kabbalistic tree of life, (...). the letter on top, Jod, refers to the name Iah, related to the second Sephirah on the tree of life: The wisdom of Chokmah.

all the ten names are the names God gave tot Mozes on the mountain sinai. he promised to mozes that he would once tell his name to his childrens childrens (etc) children.

phoe, hard to translate...

I found this:

Quote:
Chokmah means wisdom. It corresponds to Uranus in astrology. Perhaps the best way to describe Chokmah is as the "aha" moment. At the very instant at which we solve any problem or puzzle, there are no words. There are no thoughts. There is only an instant of "aha" as we realize that we have found a solution. This moment is soon followed by thought, and yet the moment itself is beyond thought.

funny how it relates to the feeling you get when you SOLVE A PUZZLE.

A few clarifications which might help

Hi, i'm new here.
My name is Dror and i'm from israel.
I speak hebrew, so i can help with some of the topics you've mentioned.
I hope i'm not repeating things already said.

1. Aleph - Aleph is the first letter of the hebrew Alephbeit (ABC). I saw other mentions of hebrew letters earlier on, i can help on those too.
2. Chokmah - well, it's also in hebrew, and it really means wisdom as said. but not as a moment of understanding something, but litteraly "wisdom".
3. all that kabala info is pretty fabricated, so i wouldn't rely on that solution. it's mostly newage nonsense, so we should look in another direction.
4. some background - the tree of life is taken from bereshit (genesis), the first book of the bible - from the story of adam and eve.
the story tells us that in eden there were two trees - the tree of life and the tree of wisdom. god allowed adam and eve to eat the fruits of the tree of life, but not the tree of wisdom. the snake seduced adam and eve to eat from the tree of wisdom. the tree of wisdom's fruit is usualy refered as an apple.
