Hi everyone,
have been following this came for a few weeks now.

My guess is where putting to much meaning into all of this. All of the clues so far have been in-game (if I'm not mistaken).

A few ideas:
Contact me through the usual channels. - Could be a lead that we need to find a new password for the cache.

"Where an Aleph meets the Star" - Has anyone done an anagram with this one? I'm new to this so I don't know how.

And finally, (and a bit far-fetched), could it be that he is really saying: "Where an alepf meets a star" - alepf being an anagram for apfel (apple in german), leading us to the apples and the alledged star chart on the marble table. Smile

So far in this game, all the puzzles had solutions that did not require googling or doing research on a particular topic, they were all in-game, or directly linked to it (friendsreunited link in the cache).

Which leads me to think we're probably looking too far for a solution at the moment.

The 441 gates are a nice coincidence, but there's so few references to be found, and it all seems to originate from that 'kabbalah', so that I'm definitely sure it's a false lead.

Apart from the sableshuck.com 'aleph''s anniversary, there is another reference to the aleph in game, that's in the Hilbert Hotel's guestbook (Babel):
"I came here to discuss the use of the Aleph in Mathematical Philosophy. I must say it was a most enlightening experience, and will never forget it. As far as Hilbert's went, I find it wonderfully appropriate. Although you can't help thinking there is more around the corner"
(The capitalisation in that message is a bit bizarre too, but I can't make anything of it)

"around the corner" of that entry is another entry, "ophidia in herba".
and one page back, it reads "all the latin i assumed to be meaningless turned out to have a purpose after all".

"ophidia in herba" and the names of the six signs on HWAU are the only latin phrases i have found in-game so far.

the order of the guestbook entries changes every time you reload the page. no help there. i think it's just a joke on the infinite hilbert hotel.

nicely summarised Flo, and hopefully you're right which would make our quest easier

deep down, i think you're right...but there seem to be so few clues/avenues to explore left that I can't see where we will get the answer...

from Jon's message it seems that the answer to aleph/star clue will open the mezzanine door as he says that "if you can help me.. we might just be able to end this"

seems like the the game is coming to an end...

...But presumably, we still have to decode the Book of Star if we find it behind mezzanine door..

it will be a very sad day when the game ends- Crying or Very sad

but then will get on with life and hubbie will have hot dinners again... at least someone will be happy

I looked into this before.
The capitals seem to spell out
I AM IN A HIWAC.
there is more in another thread on this.

also, this is gonna seem way out left field but do these look slightly similar?

note that the hilberts logo has a star on it.

ingame or not

yes, all the answers till now can be found ingame. but now we are asked for an answer directly by jon, previously we were tracing his tracks. and the question comes from a book we haven't seen yet and what he just read. so, on jons sites there can't be any clues (logically) or he knew the answer before asking us. and if he knew, he would finish his task without asking us questions Surprised .

so, if the answer is ingame, it should be on S&S or partners or on the sites jon referred us to in hte cache. and if the answer is "instella", well, what does that lead us to? their moviesite, festivals, factories?

the most logical thing to happen, is that we send him to a place pathway travel offers (like europe or a destination in the last page). but he, since i don't expect Tuvok being a puppetmaster, anything can happen Wink

impossible

I agree with tassie.
We have to try and stay in game, otherwise we start going mad, and most of us are already guilty of that!

This puzzle is impossible in my opinion.
We have no leads that give us anything resembling an answer.
Nor do we have any idea what to do when we get the answer.

The PM's are trying to wind us up. We can't possibly solve this without some sort of further information!
I would place a substantial bet on the PM's giving us a further hint in the near future.
If they don't, we're just going to sit here ripping up every tiny little piece of nonsense they've laid out for us.

I've spent almost two days solid on this, and NOTHING even sniffs of a sensible answer. (Even if I DID find the answer, I didn't know what to do with it)

Let it be known... we can't do this without more information.

Cool similarities, Meak

Meak: I do find the two symbols similar. Now what if Aleph (the fool) means Jon, meeting the Book of Star? As in, when Jon took his trip he stayed at Hilbert's Hotel, the place where our fool met the star. And yes, I'm very tired.

ok here's my two cents...

aleph meets star. i think what with the recent updates we should be looking at the hornchurch star for alephs (or however you should pluralise aleph :p). just seems the most logical thing and its ingame so it fits with the current idea of looking in those sort of avenues.

just a thought (ive been pursuing it obviously, but no joy)

laters

I think this is it

Did any of you notice the homepage of S+S...
When we talk about Aleph meets Star, could it be possible that we have to search for a place where there is an Aleph and something about a Star???... In the homepage of S+S is a post of Latest News. With a header: Sable+Shuck celebrate anniversary. It's obvious that there is a mark of an Aleph... And how about 'stellar contributions'??
Stellar, as I recall, has everything to do with stars... Can it be that the solution to this clue is within that text???

Let's find out, happy hunting..

so Flo, how many cans did you have to drink to substantiate that?

(think it would have taken me quite a few before I was really sure, and of course, I would only be drinking in the line of duty Wink )

hmm...

well we seem to agree the answer to clue will be "in-game" if it follows all the others

but Meak, I think you would make a pretty good detective if you ever give up the day job...

I really think it sounds like he says ' I'm currently researching a lead on the more the do'.

Hears a .wav file of that one phrase, so you can listen to it closely.
http://www.fuggled.co.uk/themorethedo.wav
I tried reversing it, but it doesn't make sense that way

We were dicussing this the other night in the chat room. I think it may have been Nadif who suggested that the words were "mort dieu", I suggested possibly "mort de dieu" or "morte adieu".

Do we have any Francophones out there who could listen to the .wav file and voice their opinion?

Hey,
Just thinking out loud:
If I was right in my last post, then the place where Aleph and Star meet is in the east banks Acheron (thats the only thing I can think of...).
Since the river Acheron flows through the realm of Hades it has to be near or in the Elysian Fields (forgive me if that was mentioned somewhere else..). Where Hotel Europa is settled... So it could be that they meet in Europa...(Pathway) Could anything be in the guestbook?
