well is speak both dutch and french (very common in my country Wink )
and to me it really isn't french, but since Jon is an englishman,
end we all know how good there pronounsiation is..
So anything is possible.
Though i think that it's a bit far fetched..?
When i first listened to it i heard 'the more to do',
and it would make some sense.

Initially, I thought it sounded like "the more the do", but that doesn't make any sense at all. Especially when put into context with the phrase "I'm currently researching a lead on..." that Jon says just before that.

I'm thinking that "the more the do", "the more to do", "the morte adieu", or whatever he says must be a thing, a noun, when put in the correct context.

Hey,
Just thinking out loud:
If I was right in my last post, then the place where Aleph and Star meet is in the east banks Acheron (thats the only thing I can think of...).
Since the river Acheron flows through the realm of Hades it has to be near or in the Elysian Fields (forgive me if that was mentioned somewhere else..). Where Hotel Europa is settled... So it could be that they meet in Europa...(Pathway) Could anything be in the guestbook?

Well, you could probably use that sort of logic to justify Vahalla too, even though it is from a different mythology. Being that Vahalla is the afterlife paradise for vikings, they would have to cross passage in a similar manner, right?

With the morte adieu thing...I could be wrong, but doesn't adieu have a short a...Jon sounded to me like he pronounced it with a long a. And if the first word is muerte, that should sound like (muh-wear-tay), right?

so, what about that second word being something like dune, doone or d'un?

Philosophy???

I was yahooing 'mort de dieu' and I came across a book called "La mort de dieu". by famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. It was a page in french. I translated a little bit of it and this is what came up:

"Famous passage where the philosopher approaches the question of the death of God."

Here is the link if anyone is interested.

http://agora.qc.ca/reftext.nsf/Documents/Nihilisme--La_mort_de_Dieu_par_Friedrich_Nietzsche

I'm pretty stuck with all this aleph stuff. I'm really hoping for another update!

BookS in the safe

Well, probably we ARE overthinking. Let's just stick to the in-game sites, there are enough things there that we haven't really figured out yet, expecially in the guestbooks. I just went over the guestbooks one more time, and I haven't found anything new but I do have the feeling that there's something there.

Anyway, another thing came to my mind: is it possible that the answer to the "aleph meets star" puzzle may be a new password to use with the books in the safe? No, not necessarily the Cache: there is another book in the safe, and the presence of that second book always looked quite strange to me, I mean, if Jon put it in the safe it must be someway valuable, important...

I kinda agree with Meak about the fact that probably we still haven't been given all the pieces of information we need, and that in the very next days we will get more clues to be able to solve that; nonetheless I think that, IF the solution turns out to be a password of some kind (probably a word), maybe it is to be used on the books in the safe.

Or maybe it's just my saturday night hangover talking. Smile

I think that if we take one clue, it isn't likely we have to search in different myths.. so it'll probably The Elysian Fields in this case...

One different thing, I thought (also, as mention by others) it would be that the answer to this clue will reveal the next password for the cache 3..
Because that IS the usual way that Jon would contact us.. But when I try a password I get the message: 'We're having problems at the moment, please try again later'. Would that mean that we cannot insert a password? or that I have the wrong one (obviously.. that's the case, either way.. heheh) 'Cause when inserted an old PW like confer, it works like before...

Well, I am French and live in the UK, and I still can't make sense of what Jon is saying in that message. (I'm wondering how that sentence would sound in a Glesga accent though Very Happy )

And yeah, I don't know what he means by contacting him through the usual channels either.
There's no way we should have to pay to be able to send him a message on friends reunited, the mail server at thehidingroom.com sends back your emails saying your domain is not authorised, Jon makes it clear he is not checking his @hwau.com email either.
And how could it be a password when he does not know the solution himself?

I speak french, and if it is french, it's with the WORST accent ever.
And what does the death of god have to do with this anyway? God, or his death is not an in game feature!

I've done numerous anagrams, on the following phrases:
the more the do
the more to do
more the do
more to do
mort dieu
morte dieu

and nothing has come up.

PS: it could be MOOR instead of MORE? after all, a moor is a place.

which translates to Love of God?

The more the do

I can't help but think it sounds clear as day as "the more the do". The phrase may be of slightly bad grammer, but a quick google does tell me the phrase is 1) not completely unlikely and 2) if it were likely, it would fit the rest of the phrase; as in, Jon's simply researching on accomplishing what's left. I don't think any French will be required here, but possibly an anagram. Jon chooses his words, so I wouldn't second-guess his choice of words.

Exactly what i thought,
if it were french he should take lessons,
I think we can safely let go of the french,
and indeed, i do think that the sentence the more to do isn't that strange,
there is still a lot to do,
so let's focus on the rest

(just my humble advice)

More the do

Hi,

Just too the lead from Eddie Nichols and google'd "the more the do" on google.co.uk seaching just in the uk and first hit is a Irish Gaelic Translations Forum. ( http://www.irishgaelictranslator.com/translation/sutra171270.html&sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752 )

Someone heard a phrase sounding like "the more the do" and someone was nice enough to traslate for him:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Madra dubh -- MOD-ruh doo -- means "Black dog."

This looks promising as we all know the relevance of black dogs....

Request for info was posted on 21st of Jan (probable coincidence with date of last big update?)

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere.

black dog?

Thumbs up Chymz, that's definitely something useful.
Maybe not a hint (we kinda know who the "black dog" here is...) but now we know what this was about.
