[PUZZLE] Hidden Message In SableShuck Acquisition Quiz

Hi gang. Been lurking for a while, haven't had as much time to spend on this game as I'd like. But I've found something very interesting in the soul worth quiz. The spinning head has text written on it. I dug up a freeware utitility for motion screen capture and pulled some still frames out, but I can't make out the whole message. Maybe the more industrious among you will have better luck. I've attached the best of my screenshots. There's text on the side, and the top, of the head.

ALSO, another thought, and I apologize for blithely plonking this in the same thread: in addition to the hidingroom link, could "where U and I meet" refer to the "Psi" symbol of the greek alphabet? If you put a U and an I on top of one another, you get a little trident: the Psi. This term also refers to the paranormal.

Happy trails,
SD/Vancouver/Canada

I used "Capturepad" to grab a motion capture of the window; it created an AVI, which I then opened in Adobe Premiere to flip through frame-by-frame. These were the best I could manage, but I only had a few hours to devote to it. It's tricky work, so unless you're adept with this sort of thing I'd leave it to someone else or it'll drive you totally insane. I'm sure there's a better capture utility out there.

It's mostly a mess, I know, but a few words are clear. My suspicion is that if I did it longer I'd get footage from different angles that would give me the whole message when I assembled it.

The brute force solution, of course, is to simply tap Alt-PrintScreen while the head is spinning and take your chances, but good luck with that.

bugger

Grabbed the head animation at least a dozen of times so far, but the result is still too poor, nothing better than the images already posted.
I think we have either to get and edit the flash file, or to use some serious slo-mo tool (I haven't found one yet but I'm still looking).
Hope somebody will succeed soon.

Oh, another possibility may be using some REALLY GOOD picture enhancement software to clean up the blurred frames we have.

the creators of the flash must have used a pic from somewhere of the internet i guess.

isnt it possible to find the same pic they used? i am not that advanced computergoogler to find certain specific stuff....anybody inhere who can?

way to go, now i retook the test myself, and found that it is actual visible, never noticed it anyways.......

good job!

Grutte, I don't think they used a picture from the internet. Since ve're assuming that the writings on the head must be some kind of clue, they've probably made the head themselves.
Still trying various tools to get a readable image, but I think that cracking the flash file is the way to get there.

as far as i can see on your blurred picture (no offense), there are four lines.

????????????? of the
????????????? common
????????????? the lower
????????????

to me, this seems like some kind of medical explanation, of what is behind the marked places on the skull..

on top of the skull is another msgs.

perhaps it can be a clue, and it would be a killer if we deciphered it, but as far as i can see i keep in mind that it is just nothing.... till the opposite is proved....

but keep up de good work!

Phrenology

Hi

The head is part of a Victorian idea of being able to tell peoples personalities by reading of bumps on the head - Phrenology. there is probably alot more to it than that but there are loads of websites ie.

http://pages.britishlibrary.net/phrenology/

There are pictures of the heads on the sites which might give a clue to diferences to the S&S head.

Can't stop work calls.

To get the left side...

Interesting stuff with the writing on the head. I started to look further, and I found (since I regularly got the self-esteem question first in every test) that you can get the left-most portion of that writing fairly easily when the head stops for any of the sections on the back of the head. I don't have the software to capture the images; could someone else get these images?

Re: Phrenology

If you scroll down and look at the images on that page, the image titled "Cover of the American Phrenological Journal, 1848 (from Stern, Heads & Headlines, 1971)" has the phrase "Know Thyself" wasn't that the telephone text message?

Know Thyself

Yes, it was. http://www.phrenology.com/americanphrenology.html
has a better picture to look more closely at.

Some checking around and research says "Know Thyself" was considered one of the most important themes of phrenology. Through that theme, it was considered that one could perfect themselves. I know also that phrenology was a study of the bumps and depressions, and that some self-improvement involved trying to find ways to raise bumps or lower depressions. Perhaps something we can do with the site?

I've also found an image of the numbers and regions of the brain for phrenology. I'm about to check it, but I wonder if the head on the Sable and Shuck site is correctly numbered/identified? The image is attached to the post, if anyone is curious.

sorry to be a downer guys.

I have one of these heads at home.

It says
"Summary of the propensities common to man and the lower animals"

i wouldn't read too much into it. It's on every phrenology head!

Know thyself - that's exactly what phrenology is about.

Phrenology Heads

Does your phrenology head look otherwise like theirs? Or can you spy any differences?
