This is definitely one on my list of games to get when I finally get a PS2 (which I probably won't get around to for a couple more years).

By the way, hi Nova. Haven't seen you in Halo in a while.

Howdy.

My absence from H2 isn't voluntary. I'll be back on H2 soon, as soon as I sort out my jet powered rocket pants. And by that I mean DSL.

It's worth buying just for the music, and for the way the king sounds when he talks. Kick ass.

They're doing a sequel, apparently.

Yeah, they should be finished with the sequel soon in Japan, I'll be holding my breath for a us announcement Smile.

Let us know how that goes.

I'll be waiting for Dasro to turn blue, personally.

Hi. I've never posted here but I read a kinda funny story about Katamary Damacy, for all of you who like it..

Apparently if you play games for a really long time, sometimes you have like these little glitches where you tend to mix reality with stuff you saw on games.. Anyways, here's the story...

Some girl played Katamary Damacy for three days almost straight, so finally after she was done she got out and her boyfriend was driving her somewhere, then suddenly she grabbed the wheel and tried to pull it to the right. The guy tells her to stop and asks what is wrong with her and she answers.. " Oh.... I wanted to roll over that mailbox... "

This is true and so is this syndrome.. it actually has a name but I forgot. There are stories like that for other games, but I haven't read one about Halo...

Urban myth. And the same sort of damaging urban myth that caused the hysterical assumption that playing video games caused the massacre at Columbine. The same sort of hysterical assumption that probably led to the Halo 2 tournament in mentioned in another thread being cancelled. Show me studies, please, or stop fueling those sort of paranoid imaginings.

Here's one from me then. Actually true Embarassed

After playing Halo for an 8+ hour Boise "FRAGFEST" Friday night / Sat morning, and after only a few hours of sleep, I went shopping with my wife. I got sent to find products 1-5 on the list while she was getting 6-10 (you get the idea) so we wouldn't spend so long in the store. Well, I finished getting all of my stuff and proceeded to start to look around for my wife. After wandering for a few seconds I realized that I was trying to look above all of the isles for a green triangle "friend" indicator in order to find her. Embarassed

EDIT: addition: though I certainly could never imagine slipping far enough into a game to start shooting at people. That's just stupid.

I could have sworn I saw this incident mentioned in a wired article... let me go see if i can find it.

edit: here it is. Assuming the people being interviewed aren't lying, the incident did happen:

Still....that's just a tad bit silly, don't you think? I mean, I may joke about it, but I've been playing games for 20+ years, and I have never, ever once had trouble distinguishing real-life behavior from game behavior. Even driving games, which I suppose would be the closest my games ever come to things I do in real life. Sounds to me more like people who have a difficult time separating fantasy from reality. I mean, do these same people play a game of pick-up basketball, and spend the rest of their day afterwards trying to make a basket? Seriously.

*Edit: I must be really bored that I'm actually discussing this Smile

After playing lots of Tetris, I will automatically start filing objects visually, flipping them and sliding them in my head so that they fit together and complete rows.

With Halo, I am really wary crossing the street, because I wanna look out for people that wanna splatter me. I've never actually held or fired a real gun in my life, so the shooting part is not really so much of the blur for me. (Let me PLEASE clarify, that even if I had, I am very sure it would NOT be part of a blur. Let's just be clear on this.)

Katamari Damacy? Yes, there is this feeling of wanting to roll stuff up. I can sort rooms in my apartment now by assessing their size and surface area, and I think, "What order would I go in, in order to please the King?"

I guess I'm an urban legend!

The only time something like that has happened to me was after playing GTA3 for a few hours. I was in the middle of the game, when my mom called me and said she'd been in a fender-bender and her truck wasn't driveable, so I had to go pick her up. I went straight from playing GTA to driving for real, and there was a slight urge to drive on the sidewalk, run over pedestrians, squeal around corners, and crash into police cars. I didn't act on any of that, of course, but the thought was there.
