I don't know if this counts, but I have come away from games and still saw the HUD/UI superimposed over my regular vision. Which is alright for Halo, but when it's the button array for XCOM or icons from Civilization it can be rather distracting.

As far as bringing in-game experiences to the outside world, I have a worse time with movies. The Matrix, Mortal Kombat, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and the like left me EXTREMELY aware of my balance and posture when coming out of the theatre. And I felt light on my feet, too.

-- Steve doesn't think he can actually do the high-kicks at that point though. Reality still reigns, with the iron fist of gravity.

Oh man, I totally drove my little Geo Metro like a Mini after seeing Italian Job. Definitely not smart. Wink

After playing a long stretch of Gran Tourismo 3, I find that I actually drive better than normal. I'm way more conscious of lining my turns, braking, accelerating, etc. And in a Subaru with all wheel drive, it's really fun. Smile

An article I liked on Katamari Damancy:
The game doesn't end. It breaks up with you.[/url]

I've been playing games for 20+ years, and I have never, ever once had trouble distinguishing real-life behavior from game behavior.

I'm with you! I've been a gamer for a quite long time. Had nights of 5+ hours playing and I don't recall ever having any problem to tell fantasy from reality. Yes, I may think about how some situations in real life could be solved in a game once in a while, but I don't think those qualify! You guys are just .... weird! Laughing

anyone remember Carmageddon? after a long session one night in the lab, i got in my car, saw another car coming toward me, and my first instinct: "ooooh, i gotta hit that guy!" luckily it passed after less than a second, but i scared myself prettly good

after playing a sniper-crossbow heavy game of Half Life, i was walking across campus when i saw someone who could've been a friend across a field, my right middle finger started twitching and my thought was "zoom in damnit! i want to see if that's her! wait... i'm not playing anymore......."

the worst was last night, i was in my living room when i saw a leaf on the floor bent into ROUGHLY the shape of a needler, i wanted to run over to it and hit (Y)!!! Shocked

p.s. (i'm jealous of you Subaru owners, i ALMOST bought a WRX this summer, but couldn't justify the total cost)

Mmmmm... Gran Turismo.
Mmmmm... Carmageddon.

I think Carmageddon was the precursor to the Burnout series. I loved going into the football stadium and mowing down the football players. Luckily that was all before I could actually drive myself.

Mmmmm... WRX-STi. That's why you have games like Gran Turismo. So you can drive all the cars you could never afford in real life.

I'm just hoping they include my Tiburon in it... Hyundai seems to get left out of most games. Although NFS:Underground has been good about including it.

I do remember Carmageddon...ahh, one of the original guilty pleasures games, around the time of the original Grand Theft Auto. Used to play that often when I got home from class in college. And the cars are one of the only things I actually enjoy from the GT series...otherwise, simulation/realism is for the birds! Give me an arcade racer any day.

But, back on topic, IGN just had an opportunity to play-test KD2.

Nice. It looks a little too rounded, but everything else says that's my baby (only in yellow instead of blue.)

God I can't wait for GT4.

I guess you didn't see the car they gave Conan O'Brian for the Forza Motorsport demo at CES this year... Very Happy *cough*BuickGrandNational*cough*

-- Steve's not into race games very much... and he won't be picking up Forza in the near future; it BSODed right in the keynote address. *snort*
