Nah, they ask you "are you part of a convention?" and you have to name the convention you're here with. It's not like they check for badges or anything, but it does take rooms away from people who are actually there for the convention.

You're looking at this all wrong. The convention is taking rooms away from people that are going to be there for the Hivemeet. Smile

I wonder how we can get the people who are posting on the thread in the General forum to come to this one, or vice versa, so that we have a single place to discuss.

Hah! Post #1000.

Pheadra,
Please mark me down as a possible. I have some frequent flyer miles, plenty of vacation days and hopefully can save some money from my tax refund this year to attend this event. I won't know for sure until I get more of the official docs to verify my preliminary calculations.

Hooray! The weekend after AP exams. Excellent!

You can put me down as having expressed interest. I'm not 100% sure about my plans yet.

Should we start planning activities already?

Yeah, put me down as a maybe. Angelo offered to be my travel buddy and that weekend is right after my exams, so it's a pretty good chance I can go. I guess the real question would be logistics. Where can we all stay that's cheap and centralized to the 'local' beekeepers?

Go ahead and mark me as "definitely coming," along with a guest named Woody.

Yeah, I have a feeling logistics is going to be a pain. I'll be more than happy to tell people where I have a room, as the more beekeepers we can get into as few locations as possible, the better.

Or, if someone in chicago wants to put us (Mike and I) up for a night, we'll be happy to go there as well.

Also, what are people doing about transportation while you're in Chicago? Specifically ones that are flying and not staying with people? Mike and I are currently debating flying/driving, and if we fly, we won't have a car to get to all you wonderful people, since we'll be in a hotel. Any ideas about how to deal with that? (Renting might be an option, but currently I'm only 23, and they won't let me touch a rental car...)

Taxis, subways, walking.

Are you married guys/girls bringing your wives/husbands? Or even gf/bf? I'm planning to bring my wife, but I'm wondering if I'm going to be the only one ...

how close to Chicago do you guys live? its a huge metropolitan area, are you mostly in the suburbs or in town?

hey, think anyone could convince Sean, Elan, Jane, Kristen, Yuri, Zan, or anyone else to make an appearance?

Water10: Most likely I'll be bringing my fiance, and Dasro said he'd probably bring his girlfriend... don't worry, your wife won't be the only "bee-widow" there Smile
