I don't understand the use of '+' except in the context of "Mum+Dad". Arsenal don't play games in Summer (except at the very beginning of the season), and what has Eilean Mor got to do with Veg.

I wonder if the '+' signifies the keywords for the clue?

Somethign interesting to note: you don't ahve to type in the password for teh Mezzanine door to access the picture. Are we sure nothing else opens up when the door password is entered or that the password is the number sequence. Could it be a door wiht multiple passwords like the cache?

could that be because the PM's found out that we allready found that clue? and now opened it to everyone?

is there a way to find that out? because that would prove they follow us, and update the game according to our findings

It could be true, but we'll never know since we do not know weather the back of the picture was already 'open' after the update on 21-01 or not...

On the other hand it is also possible that this is automatically opened - maybe something inside the Hiding-Room-Flash-Thing-Programm automatically activates new flashobjects like this after us making a certain move. Don't know, and think we have to move on for we shall never know..!

PS.... It is kind of exciting to think the PM's are reading this forum. If I were a PM I would certainly do it and laugh very hard about all the "red herrings" we have been following Laughing hihi

I would assume the easier answer is that upon entering the proper password into the mezzanine door a cookie is placed thereby alleviating you from having to go through the paces next time.
Just a thought though. They could be updating it for us (how nice of them Wink )

Well I just checked to see if what you're saying is true but alas:

On my second PC (on which I have previously never even opened the Hidingroom site) the back of the picture is NOT available.
So until one enters the correct password in the Mezzazine room it's locked.

Once you've entered the correct password, it stays unlocked, even if you clear your entire cache. I haven't tried dumping my cookies since I need some of them.

Cheers, Slowzone

Stucked in the mud...

Wll fellows, after a very promissing start of the week, with many nice cracking, it seems like we are stucked. deird out of any new ideas.
There are no relevant and sharp posts for allmost 24 hours. Obviously we missed something during the prosses.

I think that we are off the route and we need to get back in it real soon.

What i am about to do is to take a time out of 24 hours from the riddle, let my mind relax a bit, and when i'll come back i hope i will be refreshed and would be able to see things on a different way. Like jumping over a hard question on a big test - just to come back to it later and see how simple it really is.

Good bye then - and god speed.

Hope you will make a progress while i'll try stop thinking of Jon, Aleph's and Mordadu (or something like that...).

Nir.

One more thing...

And just upon disconnecting from you guys i thought about one more thing

Jon says to contact him on the " regular ways".

Maybe its via his site - Hewalksamongus, on the part of offering links ?

Anyway - i gave him the link of the Forum, to the Aleph meats the star topic.

Thought you should know.

perhaps the usual ways, is via email.

we have written emails to jon, sable and everything else, and sometimes they answered them. not to all of us, but they have answered now and then........

i think we should try all means of reaching jon...
mail, textmsgs, voicemail, friendsunited.......

Hello I'm new to the forum but I HAVE been playing the game since December and HAVE been following this foorum for a few days and I PROMISE i searched and I HOPE I have something useful to say (although nothing really to add by way of clues and passwords):

This just jumped out at me:

Quote:

Something I had written on another forum, something odd with the sister's plea) Here's another theory I've got though: Brigid is in on it with S&S. She says that Marlowe is a friend of hers, and S&S advertise www.helpmefindjon.com wanting you to help Brigid. I think she is in on this. I think that when you find Jon, u have to either give him in to Brigid and S&S and get the money and lose your soul therefore "win" the game in her eyes, or you find Jon, and don't tell b/c you don't wanna turn him in, and basically "lose" the game in Bridid and S&S's eyes but win it in Jon's eyes. Am I making sence?

That all made so much sense.

I have written it all out logically and come to the following conclusion: think that this game could go one of either 2 ways (or both).

We have only been issued with 2 direct challenges:

1. Help Find Jon.

and

2. Help Jon Find out about the Aleph and the Starr.

if we accomplish the 1st we will get a big fat reward. And who knows, maybe we can still accomplish the second.

If we accomplish the second, we get no reward other than perhaps selling our souls. If we do that, there is no guarantee of money or reward. But again, who knows, maybe we can help Brigit too.

SO...

If everyone is right about the 'Mor the doo' clue and its location, it is now possible to complete point 1 - finding Jon. If that location is correct.

So could there be two games running parralel? Could someone have already told Brigit? If not, will the game be ruined by telling her?

Um... thats my opinion, Ive seen a lot of new people get told off on here so if I've been out of order, sorry in advance!

the door

since the room does not represent a real room, but a page jon created to hide secret messages, it is possible that it doesn't open. i could be that the door is already open: by giving the right password, the backside of the photo gets available.

Do you mean the bit where it says "hated Eilean Mor and veg"?. "Eilean Mor" is one of the Flannan Islands about 18 miles from Gallan Head, West Coast of Lewis. There's a lighthouse there and not much else.

Here's a picture of it:

At first I thought that maybe Jon used to have to go there with his parents as achild, and didn't like it. Looking at it, though, does it look like somewhere that people would go as tourists?

There is a mystery there to do with some lighthouse keepers who went missing in 1900. I can't see any relevance at this point, but it seems like a funny thing to mention if it's there for no reason.

Also just found this about Eilean Mor:

"the island of Eilean Mor on which the lighthouse stands had two other habitations. The habitations, in ruins, were described by the Ancient Monuments Commission as "The Bothies of the Clan McPhail" and in appearance one of these ruins seems to have a chapel and the other a dwelling. "

There's also more information about the Marie Celeste-style disappearance of the lighthouse keepers, and its subsequent history.

"Just over a year after the light was first exhibited, on 15 December 1900, the disaster which has since captured the imagination of the public in much the same way as the "Marie Celeste", occurred at the Flannan Isles.

The Flannan Isles Lighthouse remained as a manned Station, reliefs and water supplies being carried out by the MV POLE STAR from Stromness until 28 September 1971. It was then demanned, and became a Major Automatic Light.

Today the Flannans receives an annual inspection and maintenance visit from the boards Tender MV PHAROS.

Flannan Isle
"Though three men dwell on Flannan Isle
To keep the lamp alight,
As we steer'd under the lee, we caught
No glimmer through the night.

A passing ship at dawn had brought
The news: and quickly we set sail,
To find out what strange thing might ail
The keepers of the deep-sea light.

The winer day broke blue and bright
With glancing sun and glancing spray
While o'er the swell our boat made way,
As gallant as a gull in flight.

Wilfred Wilson Gibson"
