Yeah, and I think the anime convention is definitely an option.

I don't imagine us having some kind of halo marathon... I mean, we were some of the first average joe's to play halo 2 and instead of intently watching each and every moment we huddled around some guy and shouted out educated guess for some puzzle. So, I can't imagine Halo 2 is going to be a focal point, but it will probably keep us company at some point.

Ok, so, what do you guys want to do? I'm game for whatever! I just want to see you people.

I agree with the "not too much Halo2" sentiment. I'm coming to see you guys, not to play halo2. While I agree it might be a good time filler at night or something, I'd rather actually be talking/interacting with you guys, more than trying to tag someone with a blue sticky.

But I'll try to remember to bring my controller and memory card anyway.

As for the anime convention, yes, Anime Central, the largest Anime convention in the midwest, is also happening that weekend.

http://www.acen.org is the website, if you want to go look. As stated previously many time, myself and Silrn will be attending as well, when we're not out making trouble with you guys.

As for housing, I think we should get a count on how many people are going to be showing up first. Then we might be able to start planning on who can take how many to crash on floors/beds/chairs/sofas/etc., and the rest can figure out if they can get hotel rooms as groups to cut down on cost.

Silrn and myself currently have hotel reservations, whose information I'll gladly give out if asked. I'd suggest trying to find a single hotel to stay at, just to make things as easy on us as possible.

Although if floor space opens up, I'd honestly rather sleep on the floor... I have no desire to spend that much money, and it's usually more fun to stay with friends, since you don't have to worry about "going home" or what not, and can stay up talking/haloing till all hours of the night, if wanted.

Oh Phedra, you can move myself and Silrn back to the "definitely coming" section of the list.

(I want to preface my statements by saying, the events herein described were due in no small part to liberal doses of coffee) Coffee

I didn't mean to imply I only wanted to play Halo. I was just reading the post about the internet cafe. I thought that people had been doing pre-event play to warm up there and maybe you were thinking that was the only place that could accomodate people for a few hours of halo goodness. Now that my head is clearer, I realize you were probably there to print out event confirmations. Embarassed

I just didn't want us to spend money on something I could get us for free.

That being said, screw halo. I WANT PUZZLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES PUZZLES

ack! two threads!!!!
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8788
should we decide on one and lock the other?

it would be nice if we could pool our money and get a banquet hall or something, i dont't think that showing up at TGI Friday's and saying: "uh... hi... table for 47 please?" is going to work. Then, if anyone had any kind of presentation or anything we'd have a way to do it. Oh, if Shad0 comes, he can give out his awards Smile

I can flex my part time travel agent status to try to arrange a bulk package for hotel rooms if everyone can decide on a location and the number of rooms needed.

It's the least I can do since I won't be able to come.

I think going all the way to Chicago to play halo2 is a bit too much! I mean, it would be fun to have a big lan party, but shouldn't be our first option! Specially since my wife doesn't play ...

Now that we decided the weekend, I'd like to know if we're gonna meet all 3 days. I might be able to get Friday off, but I need some planning here at work and at home.

I'd like to do karaoke, but I have no idea how feasible that would be - I'd have to do some research. The place I've been to is a bar, and I honestly can't remember if they card diligently or not.

Hmmm...never actually been to a karaoke bar before. That sounds like it could be entertaining Twisted Evil

Karaoke would be a blast (as long as those of us who can't sing are not expected to.)

I, for one, would like to attend as a way of being "out making trouble with you guys."

Due to some annoying habits (snoring, waking up VERY early, etc.) I will be needing a room of my own. I do see how all of us staying in the same hotel (or at least area) would be helpfull.

*sigh* this is reason to have a license and a car as soon as you're able... I'm 10 years late *smacks head*

Seems this Chicago meet is more of a beekeeper gathering than the Argfestocon... I'd love to get to both, but there's so much less chance of me getting to the chicago meet than the NY meet... and I'd love to be able to meet everyone going to the chicago one. blah
guess you can't have everything in life Razz
