They've got to be better than this one. I've been messing with html for a couple of years now, and I'm dwarfed by Phaedra's mad skills in one weekend. I'm gonna go cry now.

Oh, and awesome job, Phaedra! As if I didn't want to go badly enough already, after watching the flash intro, I feel like I have to go now Smile

Phaedra, what was the music that you used?

The music is from the movie The Village (blech movie but amazing score -- romantic minimalism!) performed by my own personal violin goddess, the amazing Hilary Hahn.

Please don't tell James Newton Howard where my website is; as proud as I am, I still don't want to be sued for copyright violation. Wink

Also, my schedule is looking pretty good so far. I might even be able to come up on Thursday even. The more people are signing on for this thing, the more inticed I am to go. I really want to meet all my friends that I've been hunting down payphones and playing Halo with. Very Happy

Yay!

Come!

Been a little while since I have checked in (work has been crazy for the past few weeks.)

Phaedra, you can move me to the list of people who are coming. I, like a few others, will probably be there a little early and may stay a little longer. It will all depend on when I can get the cheapest flight/hotel combination, but Thursday-Sunday and Thursday-Monday are the most likely options.

Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind sounds really cool. I would definitely go. I guess I have said this to every suggestion though Wink

Don't cry! I had the aid of lots and LOTS of caffeine. I was actually HIGH off it. Go ask angelo if you don't believe me.

You do. You must. YOU MUST ALL COME.

Whew, still a little caffeinated there. Shocked

Holy crap. Yeah, if you want to be seriously afraid, go talk to Phaedra after she's done something "creative"...

I should go ahead and make flight reservations soon. Help me figure out where and when I need to fly. I plan to take off the entire day anyway on Friday. If I fly from the nearest airport (Macon), the only available arrival time in Chicago is 10:08am. What time is dinner time in Chicago? Is there any point to arriving any earlier than dinner time? Will I be able to find anyone else that's free? If no one will be free so early, I'll fly out of Atlanta, 80 miles to the north, and arrive in Chicago later. How far are O'Hare and Midway from wherever we're going? Reserving this early, the difference in cost is about $2, so I might as well fly into whichever is closer. Also, I don't mind renting a hotel room, but I really need some location guidance before I make a reservation.

Wow.

Um....probably like 7:00? We haven't set definite times or anything. We're still working on having an actual place to put ourselves.

Hmm. Probably not, except to get to your hotel and stuff. No, we don't have hotel suggestions yet -- soon.

Hmm. I'm planning to take the whole day off and get to Chicago reasonably early, but I don't know that I'll be "free."

I'll look into it. By when do you need to reserve your ticket?

I'm really considering the idea of getting in Chicago around lunch time on Friday, and go to the Brazilian restaurant Fogo de Chao. It's been on my to-do list for quite a while! It has to be on Friday, cause they don't serve lunch during weekends.

I won't invite anyone just yet, cause I'm not 100% guaranteed to be there. But then again, people can go there without me! Here's their web-site:

http://www.fogodechao.com/flash_index.php

Oh, and it's pretty pricey (for my standards anyway). Around ~50bucks/person all you can eat. Dinner is even more!

Wow.
Quite. Actually, there are flights that have me arriving in Chicago later, even though I leave Macon at the same time. This convenience is made possible by extending the layover in Atlanta by 1-3 hours, at no extra charge.

7:00 in Chicago is 8:00 Eastern. If I'm on my own until then, I might as well go to work Friday and drive to Atlanta afterwards.

I don't know that...
21 day advance purchase is supposed to be best. Reserving now gets me a window seat and so forth. Since fares supposedly go up and down all the time, I might even benefit from waiting to reserve.

It's the caffeine. It has driven her completely insane. In a matter of moments, expect the Chicago Hivemeet webpage to become fully Wide Awake and Physical, and then she'll spend the next 23 years locked away in her office dialing every payphone on the planet and chattering to whomever answers.

What? Personally, I say this is sort of fun to watch.

DUDE!

I could make the page Wide Awake and Physical!

Mmm. Then again maybe not.

Drat, I think the caffeine is wearing off. Must go find some more.
