I can't believe I didn't see this thread until now. Where to begin! <rubs hands together maniacally with an evil grin>

Quote:
Falls from heights inflict damage\death, unless you crouch upon ground impact. (No continuation from Halo)
Leave Grenades alone.[includes throwing and damage done by grenades] (No continuation from Halo)
Ilovebees incorporated into the story-line. (wishlist)
I wish I could've made that more bold.

-A "Thanks to the Crew of the Apocalypso" in the credits.

-Not making singleplayer levels using the commands "Copy" and "Paste". (and paste, and paste, and paste....)

-A TV and print advertising campaign that truthfully advertised Halo 2 and didn't completely mislead the customer. I wanted to actually feel like I was defending Earth. Didn't happen. The commercials, print, hell, all the media coming out of Bungiesoft indicated you would.

Spartans jump out of a Pelican that is on fire and disintegrating going Mach 1. A few die, a few crack some ribs, but most only bust a seal on their Mjolnir Mark IV armor. What was the MC wearing in Halo 2? Mark VI.

Did the covenant know Earth was humanity's homeworld? First Strike says they did. Halo 2 says they didn't.

CONSISTENCY. That's all I want.

I'd say the Halo story would be great if it weren't for those pesky Halo games.

Not actually, but I'm sure that's what it would look like. Razz

I totally agree with everything you said above, but I do have to point out that in First Strike when Cortana found out that the Convenant were going to Earth, she never stated that they knew that it was humanity's homeworld. She only found out that they were amassing ships to Slipspace Jump into the Sol System, but there was never a motive given for why they were going there. When you read the book it was easy to assume that they were going to the Sol System to attack, but their motive was never explained. That's probably why in Halo 2 Cortana was surprised that the Covenant did not know that the Humans would be there.

I wish Bungie would agree to make everything canon BEFORE they greenlight any project that has to do with the HALO universe. For instance look at the Star Wars francise, everything in that Universe is canon and has to adhere to what has come before it or will come after it. If it doesn't meet the criteria then it gets revised or the project is dumped. But after the project is done there is no turning back; it is canon from that point forward (or backwards.)

I loved this interview I read with the Bungie guys where they said they were amazed at the backlash about the whole Earth thing. They thought people would like the story enough that they wouldn't care, and judging from the reactions, they were wrong. They also mentioned being surprised at the reaction to the cutscene loading (which they also thought was a good idea), so I question how in touch Bungie is with their larger fanbase.

The Chief was testing the Mk. VI in Halo 2...I believe all the other SPARTAN-IIs were still using Mk. Vs. It makes sense, since those are the only two models with shield generators.

In First Strike, it was never stated that the Covies knew Earth was our homeworld, just that they were amassing to jump there. It's clear they know the Ark is on Earth, or is Earth, or something, and they wanted as much of their fleet as possible to be there when they activated it.

Of course that is only if First Strike is "canon"

Do you have a link to this interview? I would love to read it.

I suppose you are, in your special way, defending Earth. You're just doing it behind enemy lines, aiding in the collapse of their ruling structure and socio-political momentum and preventing a few Halo-firings while you're at it.

But I, too, would have liked more Earth scenes alongside my favorite Marines. Guess I'll have to go replay New Mombasa again.

Clearly the humans just need an armada of Scarab Guns to beat back the covenant. Seriously, I don't care if they're unbalanced or not...that and the fuel rod cannon should've been in multi, if at the least, selectable items, if not on map.

Exactly. Leave it out of matchmaking if it's too unbalanced, but at least let us use it in custom games!

I thought that was what "Rockets" games were for. Very Happy

-- Steve set up rockets on Midship last weekend... WHEE-HA! That was fun! (If kinda stoopid sometimes.)

I know someone's probably brought this up already, but I'm too lazy to read. My unfulfilled Halo 2 wish is...

an end. Seriously. That wasn't funny.

No kidding. I remember the first time I watched that cutscene. When the Chief replied, "Finishing this fight," my heart rate tripled and I was thinking, "oh yeah, time to go home and kick some covie butt!"

And then.....roll credits....

WTF????

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to wait until Halo 3. Just as long as we get Pimps at Sea to tide us over in the mean time.
