Well, the good news is: its an ARG!

Feeling nostalgic about ANYTHING here?
a) Lenny *777*
b) The little girl? on the phone? who says "so cold" the way Mel said "i love bees"
c) This little girl DOESN"T KNOW WHO SHE IS
d) this little girl sounds like, well, SP. I mean, it could really be the same voice actress
e) "(something), evade, prevent" sounds a bit like seek, behold, reveal

Um, I'm gonna say:
Creeeeeeepy

I heard this: "cold... so cold."

When Lenny asked who is this: "I don't know... survive, evade, resist, escape.

End of tape.

Edit: googled "survive evade resist escape" and found an ILB site, or two.

!!!

Can someone link to the site with the .wav file, please? Lenny's site tells me that it's down for an hour.

The bandwidth is exceeded. We'll have to wait. I suggest that you try to "save target" if you can get on.

Edit: Got it! Attached!

No matter where I try to play it from (here or there) I keep getting "This clip cannot be played. It contains unexpected data and may be corrupt."

Daaamn.... Unless the little girl's a Beekeeper (or a relative of one), or possibly an AI, where'd a kid learn of SERE? I second the creeeeeeepy.

That's because they took an mp3 and renamed it as a wav file, but for some reason it isn't working like the ILB method. Just rename the extension to .mp3, and it should work fine Smile

That is creepy! I'm so glad this is an ARG! I'm getitng to work on it immediately.

EDIT: Resist Survive Evade. It's definitely coming up with ILB sites when I google it. I mean - http://www.ilovebees.com/surg.!store.primary.sector.mem.dmg.1.2.html - it's got 'Resist Survive Evade' written all over it. Surely this can't be a co-incidence? Somje of the stuff on the call I can't hear properly, but I think the main thing is: It's a little girl, she's cold, doesn't know who she is, and perhaps she knows soemthing about ILB. Could this be the lost sister? I think it could be. Either that or it's a red herring. Also, I just found soemthing interesting: Survive, Evade, Resist Escape makes 'SERE' - this is the motto of Fort Bragg, a counter-terrorism camp/department of some sort: http://www.training.sfahq.com/survival_training.htm.

What do people think?

Cool. The more people we can get onto this ARG the better.

I'm continuing my research on Fort Bragg, and I'm turning up some promising results. On the official Bragg site I searched their database for type-C7.6 FW0553 communication hardware, and it turned up matches. The matches wouldn't open, but at least that's a lead. Could thia counter-terrorism group, home of SERE, be the source of the E-mail? Could they be part of the plot?

Now this is looking really interesting.
Any idea of what to look at? The Fort Bragg thing is quite odd, I'm not sure that's in-game, looks more like a coincidence to me.

Just so you all know.... SERE is REAL. SERE school is not "in game". Just in case you didn't know. Don't go messing around with government or military sites.

Yeah, guys, Ft. Bragg is a REAL U.S. Army base here in North Carolina. They do a lot of Special Forces training, which is why you'll find SERE associated with it. I would imagine that anything you find that refers to that base is NOT in game, and like Paratrooper, I recommend you not mess around with military/government sites.

Um, I wasn't actually suggesting that Fort Bragg is in-game, as obviously it's not. I was just researching on possible back-drops of the story-line. I was also pointing out the fact that this hardware appears to be real. We don't yet know enough to start rooting around for in-game sites, so I'm compensating by speculating on the storyline.

more from Lenny this morning

Quote:
Wednesday, February 02, 2005

Good morning, kids!

How are you? Sleep well? Good, glad to hear it...I sure didn't.

Not only did I receive two more phonecalls last night (but both were too static-filled and incomprehendible to justify a posting), but this morning I awake to another email, only this time without all the strange coding in it.

"You! Why won't you help me? I can hear you but I don't know how or when! It's cold and dark...unseen voices.they never stop! All I want them to do is stop. They tell me to look for things that aren't there.

They tell me to go look for things and when I do I run into invisible black walls.

DENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIED
DENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIEDDENIED
ERRORERRORERRORERRORERRORERRORERRORERRORERRORERROR

it's all i ever hear. That the voices and you. But I can't hear you all the time. and i want to
hear you. i want you to hear me. i want you to help me.

please help me.

I've lost everything. myfamily.myfriends.i want my sister.she always knows what to do."

I wish I knew what I could do; my heart is breaking....I don't know how more of this I can handle...

Hmmm, I can't see any clues in there first off. It's getting interesting, at first I thought that the DENIEDERROR thing was a puzzle, but somehow I don't think so now. Whoever it is wants Lenny's help for some reason, and fast. Lenny also doesn't appear to be taking it too well - I imagine it's pretty stressful. I wonder if he can trace the calls?

EDIT:

Does this mean maybe he has the person's E-mail address?
