I have one suggestion. I've slept a total of 12 hours since thursday morning. Bawls is the sole reason my group project was finished on time! Tonight, I get to try real sleep. Should be interesting Cool

Waters, my friend, count me as interested in a Fogo de Chao outing, if you're gonna make it for that! We've talked about it before, and it sounds like yummy fun!

If people are coming in early on Friday, I can do my very best to be available as a hanger-outer type chicky for people. I'll delegate name tags, decorative finger bowls, martha stewart-endorsed gift bags, and service with a smile to our prettiest goddess, angelo. That'll free me up to socialize.

I am gonna see about getting us a nice, relaxed spot to have some dinner and room to chat for Friday evening. I'll see about rates and such, but I think I can prolly secure a decent deal. We'll see. We can probably set the time to be 6PM-on, and then people can go wander the city by car or CTA, or head out to music venues or whatever. Smile

Dude, I definitely think I should be in charge of the welcoming committee! I will hang from the ceiling fan whilst tossing name tags at the incoming keepers, all while shaking peoples hands with my tails and removing their coats with my feet! Gotta love being a monkey boy!

oh, and I am SO the prettiest.

Hey there - just to toss suggestions around. Ever been to the Flat top grill?

Oh, I love Flat Top - but all the locations save the one near Harpo are not gonna be good for noise levels and comfort - those tall tables and stools will be very very awkward for moving about, etc. I really recommend it for a lunch time outing or something! Good stuff. I make the best stir frys. Smile

Flat Top is gud fud, but for a gathering, I dunno! It would be pretty busy with regular customers on a Friday night ...

I agree that they can get a bit crowded, but I think you can make reservations for a fairly big party (at least I've done so in Evanston.)

You may be right about Friday nights though - I was talking to my wife about where we should go. She's fine with coming as long as there is conversation that she can participate in (read: not halo)

Maybe we should do lunch there. One of our puzzles can be to make stir frys and guess what the ingredients are!

How about a old fashioned Chicago Pizza place?

Yay! Plane tickets booked for me and Silrn! (Sorry Thunderclap, but $256/roundtrip for BOTH of us is too good to pass up.)

We'll be arriving thursday afternoon, and leaving monday afternoon. If anyone wants a more detailed itinerary, it can be provided.

(We should have people meeting Beekeepers at the airport as they come in, with limo signs and what not... that'd be cool!)

whoa, can't say I blame you. Mind if I ask where you booked such a good rate? Any special tips?

Rare post from XBL boy!

Hey Thunderclap and other Beekeepers. We got those rates from www.flyi.com .... Yay Independence Air. Independence Air is one of the better place to fly with nowadays due to cheap ass tickets and confirmed seats and all that. Anyways, I'm totally looking forward to this Hivemeet (probably more than the AnimeCentral thing, which truly is saying a lot, ask Incyr, our house is decorated top to bottom with anime stuff practically =D). I'm gonna try to keep up with a few threads here on unfiction cause you know its good and important and stuffs yay!

well as good as the Independence rates look, unfortunately I'm now more sure that I can't make the trip Sad

My classes for the summer start a week earlier than I thought they did, so unless I fly out Saturday and return Sunday, it wouldn't work. And I can't really justify the expense for such a short trip (not to mention potential travel delays, the bane of my existence for the NYC ILB event).

There's a chance I won't have classes on Fridays, in which case I'd of course reconsider. But I won't know that for a while yet. So for now, count me out

Looks like I'll be attending, +1.

Didn't think I was going to be able to go - the 15th is my anniversary (12 years). I mentioned it to my wife and got the response "Oh! We could take a week off, drive up there [from Dallas], go to your Bee thing, and then see Chicago!"

So... Looks like I'm confirmed as attending. Would be nice to have a location (Hotel somewhere?) to reserve some rooms.

Also... Did someone mention Fogo de Chao? I would definitely go to that.

Yeah, I mentioned Fogo de Chao for Friday lunch. For now, Krystyn is interested and I'll definitely go if I can get Friday off. I'm working on the details here at work and it shouldn't be a problem. I just hate to make plans in advance and then Thursday afternoon, my boss schedules a huge important meeting (that nobody attends!) for the next morning! Office Space is sooo true ... Laughing

How much is Fogo de Chao going to cost?

We'll be in Chicago then, but I don't know if we'll be able to make it for lunch. I think around lunchtime, Silrn and I will be invading the dealers room at the con.
