Should I have heard of this?

Only if you're a crazy-mad Halo fan who hung out on the fan sites religiously last spring. If you are, odds are you already know... if you aren't, it's not disastrous.

-- Steve wrote the terminals because he was afraid there wasn't going to be an ILB-like experience for Halo 2... d'oh. Embarassed

Dang. I just found out that VIA Rail no longer runs a direct Toronto-London-Chicago train. (Cheap[bleep] Amtrack.) This is going to take more planning.

Grr...

-- Steve's still trying to find a way to get there.

See... this is what Amtrak does to people.

I beg you, don't take Amtrak. Either that, or give it lots of money so it can actually work properly. Or you'll end up like Thunderclap, and no one wants that. Wink

You're welcome, and thanks for enjoying the show.

As far as the train thing goes, the idea of Grayhound (to use the native spelling) doesn't warm the cockles of my heart... the last time I accidentally took the milk run from Detroit to Chicago and ended up on a seven hour tour of the rustbelt. Mad All I wanted to do was get to Milwaukee... and I did, a mere 11 hours late.

Renting a car to go to Chicago doesn't feel like a good idea, either.

Hmm, gotta look into puddle-jumper flights from London to Chicago.

-- Steve doesn't trust schedules enough to be comfortable with connecting flights/trains/buses/etc. Too easy to get stranded.

Edit: $500CAD Exclamation return airfare? Thank you, Northwest, may I have another?! Back to eyeing the ground routes.

I knew a strict vegetarian in the Marshall Islands. He used to say, "I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. I just really hate plants."
That's a pretty good f'ing reason!

OMG, don't get me started on my seething hatred for anything that uses photosynthesis as a superpower! It is my mission in life to destroy as many as possible and, by eating them, I can absorb their power and use it for my own purposes. Muahahaha!

I am SOOO looking forward to that kind of thing again when I head there in April! I'll probably find one for lunch every day. That and pao de queijo galore and suco de cana (sugar cane put through a press so you can drink it) by the liter! Food (though not the normal rice and bean slop) is one of the things I miss the most from Brazil.

Tell me about it! There's a lot of things I really like about living here, but, no offense, the food is not so good up here ... Everytime I go back, I have to follow a restaurant tour! That, plus family dinners, friend's parties, reunions, etc, usually increases my body weight and fat percentage by a good margin! Take note of your weight before and after your trip ...

No, see I was planning on enjoying this trip and bringing back good memories. Maybe I'll check my weight after a few months of working out again. Very Happy

Brainwave... Bungie HQ used to be in Chicago. (In a former girls' school which had been recovered from a crack dealer or something.) Zip code 60680, I don't have the full address. I'm going from a PDF of the Marathon instruction manual, and that's their support address.

Is going there a good idea or bad idea?

-- Steve does wonder if there's anything worth seeing there anyway. And if it'd be just inviting a mugging or ten.

We could look for Soffish! He's been missing ever since they moved to Redmond.

Alas, since I'll be in Chicago in March I definitely won't be able to come out in May. (Am hoping to be in NYC for ARGFest though.)

But if anyone in the Chicago area still wants to meet up in March (12-15, then again 19-20), I'm game! Very Happy

Pretty busy these days with school stuff, so I'm not on the forums much, but I'm around on IRC usually or fire off an email - sara @ csh. rit. edu if you're interested, would love to meet peeps!

I would definitely be up for a side trip to the old Bungie HQ. If we get there and there's absolutely nothing there, we'd just be reliving the glory days of driving 30-40 miles to answer a payphone that doesn't ring (or is locked inside a long-vacated dormitory). As far as the mugging thing, we're Melissa's army, we can take em Smile or not...

I just booked my flight and I arrive at O'hare around 2 pm Friday the 13th ( Shocked whoh I just realized this date)

I plan on renting a car for the weekend and booking a hotel while I'm there. I haven't booked these yet, waiting for more info on a meeting location and if I should get something that holds Many people (Vehicle that is, I wouldn't inflict my snoring on fellow beekeepers).

I have one problem though, I don't carry a cell phone (not a needed item until now) so either I need to hang out with another beekeeper who does have one or I will need to get other people's numbers to call when I arrive.
