I thought the reactor overload and subsequent explosion was the handywork of the master chief... Am I wrong?

MC overloaded the Pillar of Autumns generators.

If you read "The Flood", you'll find out that the Flood WERE going to commandeer the Truth and Reconciliation (The Covenant's Ship that Captain Keyes was on), and take it out into space to conquer other worlds, until McKay overloaded the generators and blew up the ship, stranding her and the rest of the marine crew on Halo as MC blew it up.

Wow, adfegg, way to dig through the past and bring this thread back. Sept. 23rd to Feb. 2nd. That's a big gap Wink.

Yeah, it was MC who was responsible, which led to that great escape through the ship in the warthog.

sortof spoiler for Halo 2
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Too bad there wasn't anything exciting like that at the end of Halo 2! Wink.

I just did not notice the date, I found this thread by following a link from the Creeepy credits. I suppose you can blame thebruce for this!

McKay didn't overload the T&R's generators. She severed the fibre-optic connection between the bridge controls and the rest of the ship, thus disabling it and causing it to crash.
