The game isn't original any more.

For the record:
I was just trying to start a conversation about this movie, I guess I should have used a different forum than Timewasters. The old radio play is one of my favorite things to listen to. After many times hearing it, it still gives me the tingles on the back of my neck. I saw the trailer, got really excited and wanted to talk about it. That's all.
I am still new to this community so I guess I need to refresh myself on the rules of conduct.

I apologize for causing so much trouble around here, I will now shrink back to the corner of the room and wait until I have something intelligent to say.

O, and if anyone does want to discuss War of The Worlds, I welcome PM's about it.

Thanks for wasting your time,
TS

WHOA-HO-HO there, no drama.. first off, you missed what happened, most of this thread has NOTHING to do with you - what happened was someone posted the link for the site on the "news" boards, and since it made no sense to have it there, it was moved here.

secondly, even if you had missed that it was there before it got moved, there was a post in which was written:
"** merged into existing thread. Apparently, corporate shills don't Search very well. -- jamesi"

to me that says that the post was made on another thread, and there is a good chance some of the ones after it are also from that thread... i would have thought the context of the replies should have been easy enough to figure out... but generally, no one was yelling at you - we are annoyed at the HGW person {for those who don't know the obvious H.G.Wells wrote WotW} who decided to bomb the news page with the advertisments. so pretty please chill..... not everything written is directed at you.

That's exactly what happened. Sorry, the merge made it a little muddy, but the thread makes more sense combined. We're not hating on you, terminal. In fact, we're not hating on anyone... just watching the viral marketer with a sad sparkle in our eye(s). Very Happy

I LOVED {Insert Movie Name Here}

Universal Vice Chairman Marc Shmuge stated:

"It's aggressive marketing, but it is not deceptive marketing," he says. "This is a technique used everywhere in corporate America--it's no different from the girls who go into bars to tout cell phones and vodka. However inept these postings were, they were unpaid volunteers expressing their unscripted enthusiasm. They were not posing as fans; they were fans. We never knew the Web sites attempted to contact them. If anyone asked who they were, there's no question that they should have identified themselves."

So, HGW, do you work for a studio and what is your name? Were you paid or not for this?

Nope, I changed my mind. I was just trying to prove something to myself and I got my answer.

Sorry to have wasted everyone's time.

HEY, you stole my ball!!!!

So, uhm... I don't think anyone thought there was going to be an actual ARG, atleast, that's not what the thread{s} were about. It was just a mass ad camp, and a pointless one at that.

So anyone care to speculate on what HGW was trying to "prove to himself"? And the "answer" to that question? Do we still think HGW is a corporate Shill? And when will Mona come out of that coma? Answers to this and other questions in the next episode of "As the World Turns to Crap"...

Whether HGW is a shill or not, I wouldn't put it past Spielberg to make another ARG. Especially for something like War Of The Worlds where he wants to make it as realistic as possible...
