 R.I.P. Lenny's Xanga

Hello, my name is Matthew Addison, head Puppet Master of what has come to be known as "Lenny's Xanga". The dedicated few of you who have participated in this troubled ARG over the past few weeks have truly made this project worth continuing, even though everyone on the production team, including myself, felt it should have been put to rest long ago.

After a long discussion with the rest of the team, we have decided to retire this ARG. Below are topics that may answer some questions you may have.

Why are you ending it?

To answer this, we have to go back about 6 weeks. The game was made public about 6 months before its intended launch date by a disgruntled former member of the production team that was let go for creative differences. Since we all worked on this project, we all had copies of the PBPs (Play By Plays), and story layouts. Upset and frustrated, this individual took the existing and most current (which wasn't very complete at all) game data and started the game prematurely, leaking to ARGn and starting that Xanga. By the time we had realized what was going on, it was too late. Official announcements on ARGn and rumors abound on Unfiction left us in a rather difficult position. A decision was made to go with what we had, and try to play it by ear (hence the shoddy writing and poorly-timed Xanga updates). We scrambled for three sleepless weeks to put something together, as all our pre-production up until that point was not to go to waste...try as we did, the game was still slowly, and painfully, falling apart...the ex-production member had made things difficult by spreading disinformation and toying with the Xanga; the last post (about the GPS coordinates) was the final straw, and is what brings us to today.

Was there a connection to I Love Bees?

Yes. This game was, in fact, meant to be not only a tributary, but an unofficial fan-based extension into the story of I Love Bees that chronicled the further adventures of Jan, Jersey and Kamal during the initial invasion of earth by the Covenant.

Lenny, the phonecalls, twins, emails, and the voices

While the entire story was never completed, the dance and jig went something like this:

The one responsible for everything listed in header for this topic was, in fact, Janissary James. What had happened was, in an act to save Kamal's life, Jan risks hers and nearly dies....Kamal, having lost his beloved fiance, family, friends, and Durga/Yasmin, makes it his mission to see that he doesn't lose Jan. With the help of Jersey, an on-the-brink rampant Durga, they break into a military installation and have Jan undergo the cognitive impression mapping process...unfortunately, something goes horribly wrong, and she gets blown apart and sent back into 3 different parts of time...Which is where Lenny comes into the picture. But why Lenny? Lenny JAMES is a great great great great x several hundred relative.

So the name of the game ultimately comes down to getting Jan back together and sending her back through time. During all of this, however, the rewards for participating players were supposed to be newly recorded radio plays.

NOTE: While the game itself is officially dead, we may go about recording the radioplays and posting them as something fun for the ILB and Lenny players...

In closing....

We're all sad, angry, frustrated, and any other emotion you could think of that the game is over...but it has to be done. We'd like to thank the players once again for their tireless efforts and commitment to the game, and we're so, so, so sorry we couldn't offer you a proper experience. Thank you all.

If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to post them here...the staff will be taking the day to field any and all questions that may come along.

Hey Sarah...

Finally, a note to Sarah: Tim/Lenny is actually seventeen, lives in PA, is sane, available, and *KINDA* crushing on you...he's going to kill us for that...lol

Matthew, I'm sorry you had such difficult circumstances during the game. Regardless of the problems you encountered, you're to be applauded for rising above them and making the best of it. I know there were some really dedicated, immersed, and entertained players, and for that I say, "Good job!" Very Happy

I seriously hope this wasn't in any part of my doing, I did everything I could to spread the word quietly, I apologize if it was. Were you the one I spoke to a couple of days ago? I'm guessing it should be okay to reveal that we spoke now. For what it is worth, the short time the game went on, it was alot of fun and I think we all really enjoyed it.If you ever want to try a restart I think we would all be very happy. In any case we all look forward to any future games you guys launch.

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Words fail to describe how pissed off I am. Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Some selfish Exclamation Question Idea Arrow has to ruin something that has incredible potential for such selfish reasons. Expose the creep!

Yeah, exposure would be a proper punishment for the dipshit, allow us all to hang him by his ankles and beat him accordingly.

EDIT: I made the topic an announcment just to make sure people see it, I'm sure they would anyway, but just to be sure.

Re: R.I.P. Lenny's Xanga

Mr. Addison, I'm very sorry to hear about all the difficulties that arose when you were working on the game etc. But I'd like you to know that we all had a hell of a good time. Thank you. My first ARG experiance turned out to be entertaining, 'cliff-hanger'-filled, and exciting, and it doesn't really matter to me that it had to be cut short. It was fun, it was an introduction to a whole new gaming world for me, and... just... Thank you.

Very Happy I wonder what Sarah'll think of that... *muses*

Haha...thanks for the offer, but we've taken care of him through our own methods... Twisted Evil lets just say he'll have a difficult time scoring a date for a long, long time.

Hopefully nothing negative...If anything, I'd like to maintain a friendship...you couldn't believe how hard it was for me not to break character when I found out about her Grandmother...it broke my heart!

I don't see how she could think anything negative. Don't worry. (I mean, not implying that you're worried, but just saying, umm... yeah... whatever ignore my insanity.)

Oh... *raises hand* I have a question, sir.

I don't know if I can ask this but... Are you planning to do any new ARGs? Or take some stuff that you had planned for 'Lenny's Xanga' and reincarnate it into something else?

It's upsetting to see something with such promise come to such an end. I'm sorry it had to be resolved like this, but you had to do what was right for yourselves.

Don't let it sour you on the PM experience, though. I'm sure that you'll find that if you can get a team together that you can trust, playing behind the scenes can be really fun (once you catch up on all the sleep, that is!)

By the way...I guess now that the cat's out of the bag, you can confirm if that Synagogia/AIM thing was related to your project. It was quite the element of controversy for a while there, and one less controversy is always a good thing in my book.

Again, sorry things turned out the way they did. Don't give up on us though!
