San Francisco gatherings during GDC

Yes, yet another get together posting. This, I imagine, will not match the scope or coolness of NY or Chicago, but we're doing our best!

The plans as I know them:

Tuesday 3/8
Drinks at a time & place to be determined
Brian, Brooke, & maybe even Catherwood

Wednesday 3/9
Game Developers Choice Awards to cheer on Elan & Co
Dinner & Drinks afterwards
Ariock, Brooke, Pita (fingers crossed), Steve, Wraith, and, of course, Elan & Co

Friday 3/11
Thirsty Bear
7:00ish

Attendees
ariock
Brooke
catherwood
DarkForge
hmrpita
LeftBrained
missphinx (hopefully)
Ranger D
Steve
Wraith
(and whoever else steve can talk into coming Wink)

woo! Can't wait to see you all!

gathering near SF Bay

If i come up to San Francisco for your thing, joebrent will hate me for not coming up to see his show.
but if enough people congregate, i'll think about it.
I suck.

When and where is Joe Brent's show in San Francisco? I don't see it listed on his website. Buh? Sneh?

It has long since left town. The show is "Big River", a musical version of the Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn story, with deaf actors performing in sign language. He just left Sacramento, and continues to tour with the company around the country.

I'm making no promises about whether or not I'll travel north to meet imbri, but if I do go, don't tell joe.

Oh! My sister saw that last summer. I misunderstood. I thought there was something coming up soon here in the City. Sacramento is far far away anyway.

Thank you, catherwood.

Please let me know where and when you all are getting together.

joebrent, you couldn't be more correct! The coolness just oozes. <wipes away the ooze>
My sister loved Big River. I would have gone to see it too, but the reasons why I didn't are boring. I will do my utmost to catch whatever you are doing next when you are doing it in San Francisco. That sentence, besides being sincere, has the added bonus of sounding slightly naughty.

So, the GDC is at Moscone Center, which is close to where the Combat Training Session for ILB was. I would love to meet imbri and see vpisteve and catherwood again. There is a good brewpub nearby and a Max's Diner, both of which could accommodate a group, if a group is what needs to be accommodated.

I work somewhat close to the Moscone and I would love to hang out with you guys for an afterwork-type-thing. Smile If I remember, there are lots of places to eat and drink in that area.

For those of you attending the GDC, do you know about the Final Fantasy concert that's on Monday, March 7th? This thread has all the details about it. Even if you're not a fan of Final Fantasy games, the music from them easily stands on it's own. Last I checked tickets were still available.

Very Happy

If someone who's familiar with the area wants to come up with a place close by the Moscone that serves dinner and (adult) beverages, let's set up a time/place on the evening of either the 9th, 10th, or 11th to have a meet 'n' greet for anyone who wants to drop by.

[EDIT: and who knows who I might be able to talk into stopping by to join us Wink ]

And yes, I knew about the FF concert, but won't be there until Wednesday. Confused

wooo! (adult) beverages!

Yes, I'm quite psyched for the final fantasy concert. I'll be there, with or without friends in tow.

I vote for either Thurs (10) or Fri (11) night. Would Friday night drag out more of the locals?

SF Bay Beekeepers Contacts

I will go ahead and illuminate the Bee-sign (aka SF Bay Beekeepers email list) to notify them of this thread and the get-together. Just in case they don't drop by this section of unfiction.

I hope to see you all there!

[Edit: I can make time any of those evenings, but Friday is probably best due to having to work weekdays. I will be driving from Pleasanton and then back to Walnut Creek in case anyone needs rides from/to Berkeley or environs.]
