Hey guys,
it's been awhile but I thought I would mention something I noticed about the Neurocam site...forgive me if it's already been posted (feel free to fishslap me Laughing ). All the text about Neurocam is not... reminds me of Googlism.com. A search engine that tells you what a search keyword is or isn't.

For example, I did a googlism search for the word "dog":
dog is not a humanist by kurt vonnegut
dog is sensitive to the privacy concerns of the visitors to its site on the internet
dog is an elephant by rémy simard illustrated by pierre pratt
dog is taking off the wichita custom motorcycle maker's sales will top $40 million this year
dog is sick posted by
dog is injured it should be taken to the vets as quickly as possible
dog is bewildered during memorial
dog is good to have"
dog is thirsty
dog is a pos
dog is a simple game from the old west played with three cards
dog is put down by paul straw
dog is dehydrated
dog is not ready for one

Neurocam isn't coming up on Googlism, but perhaps they did a search for something else and then just replaced that keyword search with the word Neurocam.

Just my lil' observations.

D-

Check it.

Neurocam gets metioned as mind control....

The story goes (according to Maxwell Knight) That Hely was a neurocam member but got expelled (along with Peter Bourke) after making neurocam related artwork...

Not sure if I believe it...Hely also made the short film 'Who Is Robert Henly' and it was used in an old neurocam mission. This may have been when he was still a member though.

I just got the mission that has "something to do with cover training".

More tedious than fun really. Probably because there are no operatives in my area to communicate with, so I'm stuck with doing stuff by myself.

No mission, but I've just gotten my acceptance as an operative...I dont think I'll be -too- commuinicative about whats going on, I just thought I'd pipe up about my involvement.

I'm probably in the same boat Urthy, I doubt any other operatives are here in the 'Gong, so I'll probably just be set the "busywork" assignments. What i wouldn't give for a clandestine rendezvous or a nice little abduction...
I should probably be careful what I wish for. The Cam see all and know all, you know.
And I'm glad you didn't post the complete email of your assignment. The first head has rolled off the chopping block for that, and people are still doing it here and there.
Ah well, I'm going to be a good little operative and play by the rules. At least until I have a damn good reason not to.

Having jst finished reading 'The Magus' I can recommend it for those who want to understand neurocam a great deal more than they do right now!

There are many parallels throughout the book, to many to mention in fact! But I thought I would share with you the urban myth that is page404 of the 'The Magus'

After reading it all I automatically wanted to e-mail Maxwell Knight with a million questions but then I realised that I probably all ready knew the answers. And even if I didn't, who cares, it's my drama.

I suppose this counts as a spoiler so only read this if you're interested in finding more information about the true nature of neurocam! Ok? OK!? good... here you go... sorry it's only .txt

I was about to post something very revealing here...
Then I read the post above saying "The Cam sees all" and decided against it.

heh - I guess the paranoia effect of the "game" is working. I understand that, in this game, there is no "OOG"and that players fear being removed from the Cam if they post here. I don't think that has happened. But someone did get "in trouble" for posting here. Very Happy

I am curious about this game and would like to follow along. I noticed that the bloggers who participated in Australia would blog something like "I did a cam mission, tell you more when I can" and then a week or so later post "remember that mission, well, this is what happened..."

Maybe some of the players would be willing to do the same thing here so we get the basic idea? I would really appreciate it.

Yes, you get expelled for revealing missions! Best not to do it. There's a good few reason not to do it too but you can ask neurocam about that. So far i'm only allowed to tell people what my missions are about... It will probaby stay that way until the initial missions change or until we start to get individual missions.

I've become very aware that neurocam watch nearly all of the boards that I post in... Not many people can say that their actions are monitored by a secret organisation. I'm truely loving it!

Weird. I have an original edition of The Magus, and the text is different than what you posted. I was aware that later editions were "revised" by the author; I hadn't realized how significantly. (Nothing from a plot- or meaning- central perspective -- I'm not implying there's a greater mystery here.)

That said, it was my impression that page 404 was simply a joke -- a play on "404 page not found." I don't see how we're meant to derive meaning from the text on any specific page, since different editions will have different text on the same page.

i just bought it the other day and im on page 50 or something... and i flicked to page 404 and it does reveal quite a bit Wink, i recommend you read it if you havent done already.

the jist of it is that the guy controlling the other guy is just some sicko with his own idea of theatre, where the audience are actors too.

i can just picture neurocam reading this page and kicking themselves for giving away that bookstore mission xD

well the mission was to "propagate the myth" meaning that it isn't related to The Magus but they want people to think that.
