If I had $1,045,000 ...

So what would you guys do with the money if you won?

The first two words that come to mind are college loans.

You wouldn't believe me if I told you...

There are many causes that I want to help get off the ground. Not only would I be able to successfully market a few of my own ideas, I would be able to assist many others in making their own dreams become a reality. Which is truly the only thing that I care about in this world, helping others make their dreams come true.

sparrow ministries rainbow village. there isn't much about it online, but i visited it in person this summer. i was in awe of both the village and those that ran it. i'd move there for a year (or so) and figure out how to set up a website for them that not only accepted donations but supported a couple of their projects (selling the crafts that the residents make, their adopt a child program, etc).

for those that are curious. it is the first community established for south africans terminal ill with aids. they accept both children and adults, as well as the non-infected children of affected adults so that families aren't abandoned. they lose several residents a week and currently have several hundred residents. while it is a religious community, they accept residents of any & all (or no) faith. they are completely self contianed economically. residents that are feeling well enough contribute by creating building material, building homes, or working on native crafts for sale in a local market. it is an amazing process and would be ideal for a variety of communities, not just aids related. i think that if this model succeeds, which it is, we will see similar develops in refugee camps and other areas (middle east, india, china, etc). i've never felt so strongly about a program before and will support it in any way that i am able. if i win push, i will put a good portion of my winnings towards sparrow, not only in donations but in enabling me to go and support it physically. the rest will go towards personal retirement.

if you are interested,
you can see pictures of the village at my website: www.mirlandano.com/church/africa/sparrow
here's a picture of me with a child that warmed my heart: http://www.mirlandano.com/church/africa/sparrow/034.html

if anyone would like more information on the program, please email me (the email in my profile is current) and i can tell you my brief experience and/or direct you to additional resources.

first and foremost, I would certainly be sure to PAY WHATEVER TAXES are due and owing on the million-forty-five. Certainly wouldn't want Jimbo coming after ME, next. Wink
