Email Phyllis The Painting is Gone from the room

Sunny,
It's gone, all gone! I can't believe it. It's worse than it all appearing. That
was magical, miraculous – it filled me with a kind of wild hope and awe. I've been weeping. I'm not making much sense, am I? Let me start from when I woke up. I felt so excited and I got dressed quickly because I wanted to get back to the studio to see what else had emerged. I checked on Douglas first and found that he had already gotten up and out of the house. I went into the studio, my legs turned to rubber, and I collapsed in the very chair that had been so convenient for Douglas last night. The artwork is gone! The ceiling is once again white; the walls, pale peach; the floor, slate gray. Not one spec of what we all saw last night is there!

I called Iris and told her to get over here quickly. Of course, they were all
just as stunned as I am. I am going back to bed – the shock of last night and another shock this morning – I need to lie down. Iris is going to do some trance work in the room I believe was used as a sitting room by the Wyatt's. I can't imagine there will be much to observe in that process so I am going to retreat to my room and try to recharge my will power.

I will write again later today.

Yours, as always,
Phyllis

Dear Pam,
I sent this same email to Sunny this morning but I have not heard back
from her
and I want to be sure that everyone in "our" group knows what's been
happening here. I laid down for a while and feel somewhat better now. Iris is still trance working in the sitting room so there's nothing more to say at this point. I am feeling a little down about this turn of events.

And another

Dear Barbara,
I am really concerned about Sunny. I haven't heard from her since
before yesterday. But, obviously she did share the astounding appearance of Sarah's artwork. Has she also let you all know that it was gone this morning?!
Gone!
Like it had never happened! It was so upsetting I had to lie down after
Iris arrived. Now that I've served everyone lunch, I feel much better. Iris
is still unhappy about not having photographed it all last night. Or perhaps,
she is unhappy about something else because she asked to speak with me
privately as soon as I finish this email.

There is nothing to read on the slip of paper except for the letter
"A." That's what makes it so very odd.

I am relieved to see you mentioning Dale's "boyishness." What a very
generous choice of words! The word that kept coming to my mind as I read his diary was "weakness" but I was afraid to voice such an opinion and look disloyal to our "quest." I, for one, am in no position to find fault with others since I am so flawed myself. And, however much Dale may have brought misfortune upon himself, he certainly never intended – or deserved – to lose Diana and Meaghan. We must find a way to reverse this terrible wish and undo all the rest of this tangled snarl of mysteries. Something is very wrong when a whimsical trickster can snatch away the lives of a beautiful woman and her innocent child and we must work to set things right.

I actually feel less danger in the house now that Iris has been at
work. The spirits have been focused into entities and aren't constantly making a nuisance of themselves. Douglas was up and out of here before I got up this morning so I haven't broached the idea of moving out and now it seems unnecessary.

Oh, let me tell you something that happened just before lunch in case
it makes any sense to all of yo. I answered the phone and a woman's voice asked for "J.D." Well, says I, who may I say is calling? And, she said, "Donna." I said, "Donna Gregory?" She's a member of the town council. And she says, no, and hangs up on me. Now, I tried to do that re-dial function on the phone butit didn't work. Then, I tried the caller ID function and it said, "Private Caller." What do you make of that? Is Douglas adulterous on top of being a minion of the Don's?

Now, I'm off to see what's bothering Iris and commence a search of the
attic.

More later,
Phyllis

If the mysterious Donna is not Donna Gregory, then perhaps it's Donna Edwards, the radio news reporter who started asking questions about the relationship between the Aglaura town council and SOD Construction way back when. Remember, Angie found that cryptic note with "Ask Donna" on it when she rifled through the Don's office.

Heh. I just realized something.
It's-a the Don-a and he has a woman-like voice.
