For those for whom a trip to Chicago is no big deal (or those who live in Chicagoland)...

...field trip to the Nebulas, anyone?

Hmm. Just emailed Sean and it turns out he's not sure he's actually going to be there. Sad

Me, three (or 4? or 5?), on the U2 concert tickets. How're we going to get a block together right before the show, even if they do open some up?

Guess I better make those flight reservations now. It looked for a bit like I might have had a conflict with a commencement ceremony that weekend. Is everyone planning to stay at the Anime convention hotel? What arrangements are already set?

I dont' know about "everyone", but Silrn and I are goign to be there, and Gohun and his group are going to be there. I think Jinxy and Woody might drop by for a night or two.

If you're looking for a room, we're still looking for people to share ours. The more people the less per person...

I won't be attending the U2 concert... not that big a fan, and it would stretch the budget uncomfortably. (Probably as uncomfortable a stretch as my waistband after lunch at Fogo de Chao will be. Wink )

Yeah, I'll second Clayfoot's request on what hotels we should be looking at...

I'm not going to the one in Chicago, but I am seeing them here in Phoenix on April 15. So excited about that. I won't bother writing about the whole ticket-getting fiasco here, since I already did right here on LiveJournal.

And good luck with the ebay thing. General Admission tickets were 54.50 each, and I heard that a pair of them was going on ebay for 400 bucks.

Hey everyone, it turns out I have relatives living in Batavia, is that too far away from Chicago?

Is there a train or something that I could ride into town on?

Ofcourse, then there's trying to explain to my folks and my relatives that I'm going to Chicago to meet fellow beekeepers. I'm sure my aunt has never even heard of an ARG. Confused

Nice story! Very lucky guy! Well, they are pretty good Live and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. The thing is I was a big fan during the Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum album ... Not so much after that. It'll be tough to spend an arm and leg ...

So, while it feels unnatural to me to be putting a thread back on-topic Smile we currently have a place (in Wicker Park) to eat and hang out before the Neofuturists on Saturday night, but not for Friday night. However, the Chicago Reunion Organization Committee for Better Reunion Organizationizing...Panel was thinking that Ed Debevic's might be a fun place for us to eat and hang out on Friday night.

Thoughts?

Man, just got outbid on ebay! Laughing I guess I'm so inexperienced ... It was just too funny to see the prices skyrocket on the last minute! It went from 190 (my maximum) to 240 in the last minute, with 3 guys bidding! Anyway, that's waaaaaaaayy over my budget, so no U2 for me ... I'm still up for Fogo de Chao though!

Ed's

Basically, a 1950's style restaurant with booths, appropriate decorations, a live DJ, sassy waitstaff, and -real- Cherry Cokes. Eat, pay, and get out!

Their malteds are to die for. Their burgers are pretty darned good. It's right downtown, pretty much.

And there is also Leona's which is tasty, fairly normal Italian-American fare, including pizza and lots of pasta options, and they often have space to host fairly significant groups of people. There's a few locations, and the one I have in mind will probably be a bit more low-key, and although not downtown, is still pretty accessible to transport and such.

Yeah, we have an Ed Debevic's here, too. Very good. I'd definitely be up for that if I end up being able to come. Which, I'm happy to say is looking more and more likely.
